Seeing as how getting SNES Emus to run on Dreamcast is a pain and my original XBOX is still under waranty (and I have no idea when the disc drive is gonna go) I figure my best means of SNES emulation is through My PS2. But I don't really know how to go through with it the instructions on the swap magic discs are vague at best. They still don't tell you how to burn a DVD or CD either. My other option is to find a ram cart for my SNES.
Do you have a Swap Magic disc? I loaded the Cogswap exploit on to my memory card with an Action Replay. As far as running emulator on PS2, I do not have experience. I just use the Cogswap to play custom Guitar Hero mixes I make. Burn disc images at 4x with ImgBurn and they are perfect.
Yes I have swap magic that's my means of getting them to run. It's just finding the emulator and making the discs and getting them to run that's the problem.
Get a 2nd xbox and softmod it, then you can play pretty much any emulators on it inc mame, gba, snes, nes, pcengine, n64 , ps1 etc etc etc
Do not bother with SNESStation for PS2. It sucks. The end. Run a SNES emulator on the GC or Xbox, or best yet get a copier/flashcart for your SNES. The only drawback would be that GC or the Xbox would be able to play those few games like Super Mario RPG that use special coprocessors like the SA-1 or Super FX where your FlashCart or Copier can't. If you want a no frills cheap copier, I do have a GDSF3 I don't use, but it's not in the best shape and the disk drive must be replaced. But like I said, cheap. ;p
yeah where is the best place to get a flash cart for the SNES? I've seen PAL ones but none that'll work on an NTSC unit.
Ever thought of a PSP? I'm not really a fan of emulation, but SNES emu on the PSP works really good and feels *almost* natural/real using the PSP controls.
Sad but true. The guy who ported never optimized it and didn't released the source code. So no USB and HDD support. All roms must be loaded through CD. The only emulators i use are PGen (Genesis) and FCEUltra (NES). They both support USB and HDD, making the whole emulation easier. I used Wonderstation for a while, but only to play Mr.Driller.
Totall agree that, the PSP is great for SNES Emu on the move (I really enjoyed playing Actraiser through it quite recently!) Other than that I use my Laptop, ZSNES Emu and a couple of SmartJoy USB connectors - job done ;-) Alas I can't really help you with the PS2 side of things.
I have ZSNES and a PSP but I really just want to kick back in my room with a controller and kick it old school So my choices are voiding my OG xbox waranty (which has a Thompson drive so I may need to get it fixed) Doing SNES EMU on Dreamcast (which is a pain) PS2 EMU or getting a flash cart for my SNES
softmod your xbox. It takes no more than 10 minutes. And is easily reversed (put the disc in, load profile, click Disable mod). Seriously, don't even think about it on PS2. The ones on Xbox are more stable.
You could get a USB to SNES controller adapter and just your PC. That is what I have been doing and it is a decent option. I am using the USB adapter from retrousb.com and they would great. Plus it is the original SNES colors.
I have a big bad ass TV and my PC DOES have an Svideo out but I can't lug it upstairs everytime I want to play ze roms.
Get an RGB Monitor and an Ultimarc Arcade VGA card. Your S-Video will almost definitely interlace the picture, whereas the A-VGA won't, assuming you use the proper settings in your emulator. ZSnes will work, for instance.
