Never said what I was emulating though
I can say for sure most of these games will never be on VC.....

I have no problem booting from a CD. Speed and compatability wise how is SNESStation?

Define big bad ass tv though, my fatherinlaw has a whopping 56 inch Rear projection tv, that doesnt have component input, and connects everything through composite, it pains me everytime i go round there to watch anything on it

Softmodding the xbox does not require that you ever have to open it. Basically you are putting some special save files on your hard drive from a mem card then you are running a game and when it loads said save file off you go to the magic and wonderful land of emulations!

You keep the warrenty stickers in tact and if you have problems later on then you undo the softmod and return it to stock.

How long is the warrenty anyways, I thought they stopped making them in 05/06?

you don't even have to open it. Get mechassault, modified save file, put the save file on your xbox, put in mechassault, load up the campaign profile called "Run Linux", install softmod. done. Seriously I did it for my friends during a break at work.

The compatibility is decent but speed is fucking horrible. Maybe if you turn off sound and turn on frameskipping to a good degree.

Tototek will sell you a flashcart with a NTSC CIC chip installed. So just goto www.tototek.com and buy one already. Or buy a copier from them. :p Or if you have an HDTV, I'd recommend you mod the Xbox so you can run the games in 480p so they don't look like ass.

If you want the best experience though, you gotta do an RGB monitor and original system or the ArcadeVGA route. I like RGB + original systems.

    hmmmm

my TV is a 36 inch HDTV. Good picture and decently displays oldschool (though 2d dreamcast looks like ass)

I might just go the softmod route with el XBOXO. Is it easy to undo incase the ole Thompson dies on me?

Composite on HD sucks. Our cable company wants $650 for a HDTV box, so we said screw it and bought a standard cable box for $50, new. Composite only! No S-video, no component! Colour looks dull and bleh.

I can't wait until we move outta this rental and get satellite.

To GoH: What about a media center PC? VGA, DVI and often component out, plus it'll play everything with no slowdown, and PC games.

Ok I decided to go with my original plan of turning my PS2 into a Genesis. I have Pgen and 150 roms. BUT 1 question.......does it emulate Virtua Racing?

Hell no. Virtua Racing is a SVP game. I don't think any emu emulates the SVP. And it sure as hell won't run the 32X version. :p

    I was referring 240p, not 480.
Line doubed -- just as bad as interlaced for playing your old games. If you have a >ED TV then you can simulate low res if the emulator supports them. Not sure which ones do though.

Why don't you get a Genesis from GoodWill or something? Then you have a whole new console to collect for!

Legally? Contact all their developers and obtain licenses for them, after that set up a team of developers and have them develop a best-of-whatever super nintendo compilation game. then have it rejected from sony for obvious reasons. keep the master disc forever and be happy.

on a more serious note, just entering "play snes on ps2" into google gave me atleast 7 useable results on the very first page. including a guide on how to create and burn an image from scratch.

Edit: I only scimmed over the topic, I just noticed you have now decided on Genesis instead of snes. the google guide worked in the same way
