Uwe Boll is the kind of guy like Christopher Lambert : you KNOW what he's doing is shit but you can't wait for the next shit... But he's quite funny, he got humor and is pretty convinced he's doing great stuff, that's what is the most cute in the story. And there's been even worst director... boll did not used Stock Shots as far as i know, which is quite a trademark for *awful* directing... And i just not had time to see all the things he did (all it's "things" gets straight to video in france, too bad we won't get on screens boll's lord of ring but named Dungeon Siege, maybe we'll get Postal...). And he manages to be convincing enough to get funds for his movies... So we can say he is doing things well, not artistically speaking...

    not so sure about that.
i'd rather say he is in it for the money and knows exactly how shitty his productions are, he just excels at selling his stuff.
besides the ways he is/was funding his films are more than dodgy, exploiting german laws and all that.(don't remember the details)

I can honestly say with great pride that I've never seen any of Mr. Boll's films. Not because of the horrible rep he and his projects seem to garner, but rather, simply because I don't really care much about seeing video game properties in movie form.

The first Resident Evil film was average at best, so I sort of figured that would be the end of that.

While I never like to see an artist fail, somehow I don't feel too bad about that. This is a guy who is so insecure he challenges his critics to boxing matches (but chickened out when he found out Seanbaby was a black belt champion kickboxer - ha!)

I accidently watched half of House of the dead (it was an accident, I swear.) Stupidest crap ever - so bad it was laughable...

I'm thinking of starting a movie review site also, which means I'll have to force myself to view his other travesties. Thankfully you can get them at your local shlockbuster for $5 a piece.

Rumor has it his movie Heart Of America is semi watchable BUT the person to me that rants and raves about it also like 2010 (you know the sequel to 2001 nobody cares about) and Considers Highlander 2 the best of all the Highlander movies along with the one that was so horrible they couldn't release it.

So yeah........grain of salt on that one.

He's a jerk. If you read his interviews and check out his macho self-delusional ideas of grandeur then perhaps you'll reconsider. Don't feel sorry for him, he makes a decent amount of money from shockingly bad movies. Feel sorry for the poor saps that paid him.

Lambert is good in Besson's "Subway", acceptable in Highlander the first, Tom Vatanen story and his latest french release... But most of his work is quite bad, for sure... But i can't imagine MK3 without him playing Raiden...

yeah, saw Uwe Boll at a horrorfest when HotD first came out. He got up to speak at the end of the thing, and was a generally nice guy, friendly, good sense of humor. Of course, at a festival, with a bunch of horror crap around and fans just itching for something with a budget over $1,000, the movie almost seemed good, if at least entertaining.

This was before we realized he would become a curse on the video game movie universe. I actually own the DVD, watched it once, sat through about ten minutes of it and then skipped to the boob flashes and zombie killing scenes and set it back on the shelf as my girlfriend laughed at me for buying the damn thing.

Now Paul Verhoeven, that is an example of a crap director who has the incredible skill to make some cult classics.

The bunny upstaged him though

Generally, Boll has only been used as a director for tax shelter pictures (those pictures meant to fail), and that's where he should stay. His little boxing stunt with Postal just shows how arrogant he is.

Heh, well I can't really feel sorry for him either, although it won't really deter him. He just seems to keep going.

Oh dear god no, don't get me wrong, Paul is one of my favorite directors, he's made some of the greatest bad movies EVER [Starship Troopers, Showgirls and Total Recall].

But yeah, Uwe Boll has only made pure crap that is so bad it's not even worthy of cult status, it's just crap [well, to his credit, i will thank him for giving Clint Howard some deserved work].
