I found a 'common' snes game sealed in the original shrink wrap with the origional price lable/etc.
A loose version of the game goes for $24 ish
A complete but open one goes for $60ish

What would be a good starting point for a new sealed one?

If it's a common game I would say maybe a few dollars more than an cib version. It would be a lot harder to sell though.

It depends what game it is. The way I usually work out prices is by looking at both the lowest priced and highest priced ones (not including shipping) on eBay, and then I price mine based on its condition compared to them.

I'm pretty sure Kappa was joking, you should never get things graded. None of those graded games ever actually sell for the ridiculous prices they're listed for and you end up having wasted a stupid amount of money for the case and grading process.

I do like VGA's custom case service though; although expensive, you can't deny that they're high quality.

I looked on eBay and actually couldn't find a recent auction for a sealed Kirby's Dream Course. You might want to ask for a price check on Nintendo Age (as much as I dislike their community, they know Nintendo stuff) and then add a little bit to it because people over there are rather stingy on pricing.

I've been around here long enough... The sarcasm was implied.
I probably would have had it graded if it wasn't too expensive, just for the lolz.

I sold it to a Nintendo friend for $60, it was the cheapest complete in box listing I saw. I made 1614% profit in less than an hour(I bough for $3.50) He's happy, I'm happy. It's his first sealed game too.

I just wanted to make sure that sealed games weren't going for 2-3x what the complete ones were going for.

But that shouldn't be a general rule for sealed games, because sometimes they are indeed much rarer to find sealed than CIB.

But most people who are buying games want to play them, and don't care if they are sealed. Personally, I would consider a known working CIB game to be more valuable than a sealed one, because you have no assurance that the sealed one even works.

Right, but that doesn't actually matter at all when it comes to prices of sealed games. The market dictates the price, and the price dictates the market. It's very rare for a game to be worth more open than sealed (I'm talking about old games here, not new ones). One of the only instances I can think of where this is true is Super Marathon for the Apple Bandai Pippin. I would pay much more for a boxed copy than I would a sealed one, because the amount of sealed copies known out there right now is greater than the amount of open ones (it's something like 7 sealed, 1 boxed, 2 jewel case).

In a perfect world a sealed game would be worthless, as it has never been played

It's harder to get a sealed one than a opened one, because as TriMesh said, games are meant to be played, so opened.
And like any other item, the rare the more expensive...

Moved to the price check forum as you're asking for a price.

Please note for future reference to post a price check you need to state what the item is. If you own it, post a picture as per the price check rules with your name on a piece of paper... or state it's an item you're interested in picking up that you've seen elsewhere.

It's not that common a game - certainly in the UK. I'd have said a sealed copy would be worth a fair bit more than $60. Still, if you're both happy, that's the main thing! ;)

Sorry about that. I wasn't intending it to turn into a price check, just a general idea of how much extra a sealed vs open game is worth.

It's not a known game ether, a sealed copy of donkey kong or mario would have gone straight to fleebay.

You can't say a sealed copy is worth x% more, because it isn't. It all depends on the title and demand. Not a known game often makes it even more attractive - yeah, a Mario is going to attract a lot of interest whereas a sports game probably isn't... but something that doesn't turn up every day normally is going to be of interest to sealed game collectors.
