You'll want to be plugging that SNES in via RGB optimally, S-Video otherwise, anything but RF... and you'll want to have an oldschool CRT, or decent, expensive scaling equipment for a HD set. Running a SNES through RF on a HD set really will look worse than an emulator...
Yeah Nintendo is sutubborn with these things they think they know what people want but are very out of touch Friend codes, old games with no online capability at all (ZSNES has some online but replace a friend code with an IP address and you have the same problem) I'm really surpised the Wii is selling so well because I think Nintendo really dropped the ball with what that box could have been. Plus that Name....1 year later and I'm still making Penis jokes about the system.
unlike microsoft and its xbox live service (which at the end of a day is a pay subsciption), nintendo never really intented people to use the wii for major online gaming, and the fact that you can go online for free with muliplayer games is a bonus, all thats different is instead of remembering a gamertag you have to remember a number, and the reason why the wii is selling so much is because of its innovation and mass appeal unlike the 360 which is only targeted as hardcore gamers yes the vc games are expensive for it but the are also offering games that are very hard to purchase the original of (same with the 360 with castlevania etc) but even with the 'enhanced' graphics and all the bells and whistles of xbla it doesnt convince me to buy a game from there, so what if there are online scoreboards and online multiplayer? is it really as fun to be playing someone online as having someone sitting next to you and having the satisfaction of whopping arse on street fighter or something similar. at the end of the day its down to personal choice, ive been into gaming for over 20years, own pretty much all common consoles from the past 20 years including a 360 and a wii (not fussed about a ps3 yet until there are some more games out) , but id much rather sit and play on the wii with my son than on the 360, again down to mass appeal, yes the wii doesnt output in 1080p hd like my 360 does, and 480p does look crappy in comparison, but its the fun factor, try playing rayman raving rabbid on the wii, then on the 360 and tell me which is better? like i say personal preference, i know ive gone a bit off topic on this, but i felt like having a bit of a rant
I have a set of Monster S-video cables and since every nintendo console from the SNES-Gamecube has the same video out it's not a problem
