Hi! Big fan of the Super Everdrive, but I just got mine today for my Sega Genesis. Board revision says 2.5. Anyway, I cannot get this thing to work. Every time I try to flash a game it says "Error WR1: 1". I tried different SD cards (even one that works with the Super Everdrive) and I tried formatting the card in the OS (this worked only once, every other time it gave various errors either about not finding an SD card or just Error 1 or 2 or something).
I tried updating the OS as well and that gave me an error, too.

I'd rather not send this device back (it took long enough just to get) so if anyone could give some advice I'd appreciate it :)

Yeah this thing's gotta be dead. Tried different ROMs, 5 different SD cards (all 2gb and under), can't update OS, can't flash ROMs, could format SD card in the menu like half the time. Sucks :(

How do I go about getting a new one? Please don't tell me I actually have to send it back to Hong Kong and wait for them to send me a new one?

You probably didn't want to admit to that. Krickzz has said here that anyone buying his carts from TaoBao or whatever won't get any support.

I'd suggest opening it and seeing if there's anything plainly wrong with the PCB.

From what? I bought it from TotoTek, no idea who TaoBao is.

ToToTek is afaik an official distributor for outside of China.

Open it up and take a look at the board, and take some good photos, I know KRIKzz has been able to diagnose problems from pictures before. Also, what model Genesis are you using it on?

    Correct.

    Hong Kong != China.

Can you check output of the 7805? Are you getting 5v? I had this error with mine, until the voltage was right.

7805 is inside Genesis. It has a large heatsink on it. Might be labeled I O G, for input 10v, output 5v and last pin ground.

Yeah I didn't mean any offense or ignorance, I just thought that's what I read the return address was from before tearing the package to shreds.

Also I ordered the SNES Everdrive from you; great job. I would have ordered the Sega one but you were out of stock :(

Also...very strange update. It works fine on a friend's Genesis! Same exact model (HD Graphics model 1). What the can be going on? Please don't tell me I need a new Genesis. I just paid a fortune to have this one re-capped and modded for s-video. It plays every other game fine :banghead:

OK and when I find this, what should I do?

The modding may be the problem. I don't know for sure, but I know in the manual it specifically mentions that modified systems may not work. I am not sure if this was just the cover his butt or if he had specific knowledge of problems with modified systems.

Use a multimeter to check the voltage on the middle and ground pins, should be 5 volts.. if not you might have the same problem grips03 had.

Strange if true because the other Genesis I tried had the same modifications to it done.

BM-Viper, how do I fix this issue if it isn't 5v?

Uhm, check the input voltage and if that's under 9v, try replacing the wall plug, if it isn't you may need to replace the 7805, grips03 may also have more info as well as he has already had the same problem.

That was literally the ONLY option I didn't try, and it worked! Thanks so much Krikzz! Another happy customer right here :)

I had low voltage due to internal mod, i.e. Genesis to jamma with SSR power reset connected to test switch, i.e. brings up the Everdrive menu, just like you turned the Genesis off and then back on. I could fix by upping the output voltage of the cabinets power supply that the SSR would then drop before getting to the Genesis. What I finally did which is use a mechanical relay, Omron G6B so very little to no voltage drop. If issue comes back check voltage as posted earlier and try your friends wall plug.

    This was very helpful:thumbsup:

I couldn't understand why my Everdrive wasn't working on my one Genesis and fine on the others. Odd thing is it's not a Genny 3 but whatever, it works!

I noticed this last week that my Everdrive is creating a high pitch whine, during menu screens and whenever music isn't playing, on the headphones for my Nomad and from the headphone out on my Genesis 1.

I don't think it was doing this before as it is pretty noticeable. Has anybody else noticed this issue?

Forgive the question, but: you're sure this is noticeable only with the Everdrive? I get a high-pitched whine all the time from my Nomad (caused by the backlight), and my Model 1's headphone output has always been noisy.
