N-Gage was my first cellphone too. Some of my coworkers had it too, and we played multiplayer every day via bluetooth.
Hehe nice, yea but no one had those cables when I just got my phone, so I had to make due (being a highschool student didnt help either), and yes I did sms them aswell, the software allowed me to do that, made some good money at school with it, as most people wanted me to do custom ones for them like there names, or songs as ringtones(downloaded those though) But apart from that I never went any further with it,so never really repaired phones at all @Bad_Ad it shows that you have a understanding of electronics, not just bare knowledge, hence why your so good at it.
If I had the time and money, I would go and do an EE degree and learn it properly. I make do with what I can learn in my spare time as a hobby.
It was this back in... 97-98? It took a full size SIM, had two batteries for it and a sweet (and big, heavy) charger that took both the phone and extra battery at the same time. I don't think I could stuff it in my jeans conveniently really, had to have a jacket or bag of some sort. Good times!
My father's first cellphone was a NEC P4. This back in 1993 or 1994. My first phone was a LG 330W, in 1999.
This was my first cellphone: Nokia 7110 Awesome phone, the scroll wheel was great and came in very handy.
7110 slider used to break ALL THE TIME. I had to repair hundreds of those because it was the "matrix phone" (which it actually wasnt, the matrix phone was a Banana phone (8110) with a custom sliding case). My dads first phone was this bad boy: http://gallery.nen.gov.uk/assets/0903/0000/0191/a0041.jpg
My first one was a Siemens, but I can't remember exactly, because I was in first class at school when I got it, it was huge with an antenna. The other one which was my next one in 2000 was this famous Nokia mobile phone I didn't have so many mobile phones in my lifetime yet, but my current one is an iPhone 4S in white
Friend of mine had one of those (or something looking damn near identical) when we were in High School. IIRC he'd play Quake on it. My first was a LG VX5200 IIRC. Would last days on a charge and I had yet to discover a need for anything more in 2006. Two years later I started to sport a Palm Treo 680 my mom gave me after she couldn't find much use for it. I still have it here somewhere and I'm still grandfathered in on its original unlimited data plan through AT&T though I'm sure they'd love to throw me off of it.
while in highschool, - Panasonic G520, could call people and send text messages(just about) was a hand me down from older sister. then had a siemans A50, nice little phone but didnt do much lol. then while in college got a 3G phone, Motorola c975 - video calling, java games surfing the www mobile style, memory card mp3 player lol after that i had a nokia NGage, sold this recently, loved it for texting, also had a Motorola E1000 - great phone, loved it, but lost it. next sony ericsson K750i, > K800i - again, great phones LG Viewty, LG U400, Nokia N97 << brilliant phone loved it LG optimus GT540 < not so great 1st android phone i had. Mine was a Motorola c330, didn't really do much especially compared to the phones owned by my schoolmates but I was pleased with it Then a Nokia 3200 (the one with the "make your own paper cases" and the terrible buttons) Then a Motorola v500 - loved this one, absolutely loved it then a Motorola v635 - total piece of crap so many problems with it Then a Samsung e630 - bit of a downgrade but it did the job Then a Sony Ericsson k600i - pretty decent phone, massive upgrade after the e630 Then a Sony Ericsson w810 - All was going well until a ballpoint pen leaked all over it, I then tried to remove that stain with nail polish remover, causing the plastic to crumble a bit then a Motorola V3X - loved it but bricked it trying to flash custom firmware Then a Motorola V9 - loved it Then a Motorola milestone - loved it at first then grew to resent it And now a blackberry torch 9810
This was my first mobile phone: A Sagem, can't remember the model number but recognised it in a google images search. I remember it costing 50p per text message (there were only 3 of us in school at the time who had phones so it wasn't an issue) and it was on the BT Cellnet network. I had a third party aerial fitted to it which flashed different colours when someone was calling or texting. Happy days.
Sanyo Katana. Wanna-be Motorolla Razr (which was huuuuge at the time) with almost no extra functionality. It had a camera and my brother had the appropriate cable but transferring data was difficult and clunky. I did like the outer screen and flip phones were always fun to use. Ended up trading it to my friend/bartender for beer, as he had a black one that was on its way out. I think he still uses it to this day. Then I upgraded to a Palm Treo 650 I got off eBay. The screen resolution sucked (it was 2 or 3 generations old at the time, already) but the functionality was awesome. Everyone did make fun of me for having such a "big"/"fat" phone at the time... Then I got the Google/TMobile G1 (first Android ever)/HTC Dream which I LOVED. Even more than the Palm. Then it got slower... and slower... even with it rooted and custom firmware, it eventually ran like shit and was extremely unreliable. When the battery finally bit the dust, I bought a cheap chinese replacement to hold me over until... My boss gave me his father's old iPhone 3GS. Used that for maybe a year, and now I'm on his old 4. Seems to be holding up quite well. I'm satisfied... and that's coming from someone who swore never to own an iPhone. But hey, they were free! I'll go back to Android when I can afford it, assuming they keep making one with a full qwerty keypad (assumed to be another sliding model).
My first phone was a Siemens M50. It is so cute! I still have it "scratchless" in it's original pillow. It came in a pillow lol. It lasted so many years. The "Organizer" fits me so good that I could be using it if it wasn't faulting at reading the Sim card. The buttons are strangely very good. I've used to type SMS without looking from inside the pocket in the School. They never fail. I've seen some very bad buttons in other phones... It's white and orange just like this picture:
