Previous discussion here: http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7388 If you have the money, I would definitely go with the Viewsonic Nextvision line. I just picked up another N5 for the office so that I can put my N6 in my new arcade machine.
I use a VGA box with my DC to display on the same 19" CRT monitor I'm using to type this now. Great image, bright, sharp, looks brilliant. Invested in a VGA switch box recently to save having to dive behind the tower everytime I want to swap over. Now it's as simple as twisting the dial on a little box on my desk and I can switch between DC and PC hassle-free. V. handy when reading guides off GameFAQs.com. If only Skies of Arcadia worked with a VGA box, then I'd be completely satisfied! I'd love to do this with the rest of my consoles if possible.
Skies of Arcadia totally works with my VGA box, no patches needed. I dont remember the company, it's at my other place. It's orange, might be "Innovation". That's weird, the SoA box claims to support VGA as well.
The Japanese and North American versions of Skies of Arcadia support VGA with no problems. However, they don't have RGB support, which was required for the PAL release since you guys have SCART. For some reason they had to take out VGA in order to put in RGB. This happened with a number of PAL releases. I've never understood it. I mean, first of all, why would a game not support RGB in the first place? And second, why would they have to take out VGA support to put in RGB? Many games on the Dreamcast, do indeed support both, so it's not necessarily a one or the other thing. ...word is bondage...
