I would like to take some of the stuff off my DVR and on to my computer but I don't have a capture card what I'd like is some component-USB adapter.

I haven't found anything in my searching though.

    Your searching is uber fail!

    http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/products/data_hdpvr.html

And the afforementioned Blackmagic should have a few products.

Or use an Avid Nitris DX. If you can afford it.

I thought it was well known that Hauppauge and Pinnacle have made entry-level capture devices for the past 20 years or so.

With the leak of the HDCP key I'm anticipating some very nice HDCP stripping pass through devices but I've yet to see anything from the HDMI capture department. That Hauppauge recording looks nice though, but I want pure digital if possible. Component is a HUGE step up from S-Video though. My set top box provided by AT&T doesn't do very good component output from what I can tell, then again it might just be because I'm getting a 1080i signal piped out from it when my display (Dell 2405FPW) really prefers progressive signal inputs.

As much as that costs I'd bet it does a pretty good job. Likely most of the cost goes into the R&D for the software and what I'd imagine to be god awful licensing costs.

I dont recall if that Dell is the same as mine, but my 24 inch with Component had terrible, terrible Component quality.

[rant] anyone else find it ridiculous the user having to do an analog capture of the digital contents recorded by the user himself ?

i have a digital cable receiver+DVR box and it's so retared, I can record 1080p video on it and cant do nothing with it, because the USB and ethernet ports are deactivated and the files on the HDD are encripted.

The only option is doing an analog re-recording, how lame is that?

Its like having a 10mpixel camera that doesnt have USB/SD and only lets you watch the pictures through it's tiny LCD screen
