I was listening to super mario kart's music last night and I got a bit nostalgic about the 16-bit era, and well I was wondering if there was any particular songs from any games that makes you nostalgic. Here are the two tracks the got to me the most: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vtz-40AjwOM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CaB12M1zpFs
Way too many to mention. Almost everything good on the good old c64. That already alone makes about few hundred tunes with ease.
Vectorman and Earthworm Jim 2. I loved those games (still do) and they both have excellent music - in my opinion, anyway. Actually, I've been listening to the Vectorman OST quite a lot lately and I really enjoy it. I don't listen to a lot of techno, but it's easily as good or better than most of the techno I've heard.
For my brother its the chemical plant zone theme from Sonic 2. For me its The Doomsday Zone from Sonic3(+Knuckles? its been a while)
Like Tatsujin said, too many to mention, but here's some; Streets of Rage, Sonic, Torico (Saturn), Sega Rally, Daytona, Ecco the Dolphin (Mega-CD), Revenge of Shinobi, Eternal Champions, Command & Conquer, Story of Thor 2, Christmas NiGHTS, Golden Axe Warrior, Discworld II, Wolf3D, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D all have a nostalgic touch for me.
All the megaman music up to X3, Donkey Kong Country 2, EarthWorm Jim 2, DooM 2, Yoshi Island, Biomenace (anyone remembers this one?) and many many more.
Same here. Expecially when we're talking about jrpg. After all, most of the videogame remixes out there are from old games (classic or forgotten ones). Not to mention there are lots of indie/doujin bands that occupy mainly with releases of this kind of albums. And some of them are releasing their albums for free (like on OCRemix: http://www.youtube.com/user/ocremix?blend=1&ob=4 ).
Space Quest 1/2 title music Earthworm Jim 2 (especially the bagpipe music from that one bonus stage and the music from that stage with the filing cabinets and stuff) Mario in all its forms (I even have a recording of the mario theme played by the London Symphony Orchestra in my collection) Zelda Megaman 1 Elecman stage Super International Cricket title music Aussie Rules Footy on the NES title music
I like the synth-heavy music in the old PC Engine CD games (like around the 1989 -1991 time frame). Games like Ys, Last Alert, Monster Lair have those distinct synthesized happy tunes that really bring me back to my childhood. Loved that era!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsB8ot_3HgU Technically it's not game music but this makes me very very nostalgic.
Ok, here are some of my personal top nostalgic as a starter (all by Jeroen Tel - MoN): Cybernoid 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6xhfDLaVtU Cybernoid 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UoEqEbxra4 Turbo Outrun intro tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQNT9Whg4r4 Hot Rod intro tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RypdLW4G1Ng Savage 2nd level http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNiRI18bzOU Aspar GP intro tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfTTw44I1xo Rubicon (title) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SQzuyoc4yk Back in time, I have lissened to these tunes for almost any possible occasions (home works, cleaning up the room, reading game mags, sleeping etc...). And I still do lissen to these tunes till today, for almost any possible occasions.
Man, this one is a tear jerker for me... Mario 64 ending credits. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB5PbbWwQss
Ha, where do I start? Sonic 2 ending music, a very cool mix of every stage's BGM The first level of EWJ1, I'll never forget it! SMW level menu was very catchy And I'm ashamed to say it, but back then Sonic Boom was like the best song ever for me. In my defense I was 6 TOTALLY! I had that as a ringtone back in 2003:thumbsup: It was fucking awesome, specially the one from the 2nd act
Oh, god. It's like God just kicked me in the dick. I think this was the first time I finished a game and just sat there staring at the screen. Soon, a few films would do the same, but rarely games.
Besides the usuall SMB/Sonic etc answers i'll go for the Road Rash soundtrack incl. with the 3DO version
yeah, man. i love how it shows clips from the different worlds and you remember different parts of the game and think about the amazing adventure you just completed. It's perfect.
