Exactly. Twisted Metal didn't handle like cars. Didn't feel right to me, so V8 felt much better. Character and car design was a lot more memorable.
Wasn't there a webpage somewhere that went in-depth with the Vigilante 8 characters? Also, favorite character Dallas 13, robot cowboys, driving hovering cars.
Boy what a great series. Personally liked the original better than the second, but can't really say anything bad about the second version either. Played the crap out of the original on the N64. The more I think about it, the more I realize this game would have been awesome on PSP or PSVita (probably could play it via an emulator on one of those these days?).
Here's some super early alpha shots of V82nd. Most of which still have V8 assets such as weapon colours/styles, wheels (very noticeable on Samson Tow Truck) Machine guns attached to car bodies.
Two more due to attach limit. These two have odd "place holder?" PUPs. Also California was a lot more detailed in the Alpha compared to the final release of the game. Probably due to optimisation likely. Will have to confirm with the lead programmer at some stage.
I love these games, played them for hours and hours with my little brother. Best memory of the game is if I remember correctly some weird alien ship in some sort of silo. Don't know if it was a cheat or some sort of unlockable, but I definitely loved this game to death. Very nice to see your progress on this, hope someday you will be able to release a remastered (multiplayer?) version of the game
replying the original poster, i dunno why but i had memory of both games in my mind from childhood..... you know when you're older, and you're unsure if it was a real game or not, until you remember they were real game.... i just remember it was groovy type of game which every car is unique , with its own guns and etc . now i own vigilante 8 on the n64 , not the 2nd offense yet , but i remember both of them they had their music and etc
