Resident Evil 2 is no surprise, I have not heard about the Virtua Striker port though.

I was following that radio program (national-wide audience) and i can tell you it's no amateur crap.

They were sony fanboys..but yeah...SEGA anyways wasn't doing too much for promote Saturn back in the day.

Now i'm shocked about Virtua Striker on Saturn....maybe Sega cancelled that game because am2 was too busy with shenmue/virtua fighter rpg/fighters megamix/virtua fighter 3.... oh my god! that people worked like 24 hours a day!.

Biohazard 2 is an official "unreleased" game. It was announced at some Capcom press conference, and was even written on a cover of the official Japanese Saturn Magazine. I don't think any production photos were ever released though, and 15 days after the PSX release sounds like (mis)speculation. I don't think an official date was ever given.

Virtua Striker has long been known about amongst Saturn collectors/fans as an unreleased title ;-) Some companies even listed it on their catalogues as being available, along with other unreleased games!

Code as in number, or source code of some kind?

Certain elements of the code for Sonic Adventure were more like Saturn games as opposed to other Dreamcast-specific titles, and people "in the know" have claimed the Saturn version of Resident Evil 1.5 - sorry, I meant Biohazard 2 prototype - was approximately 15% complete when production stopped. Virtua Striker in its proposed console guise was first mentioned around the same period AM2 started work on converting Virtua Fighter 2, and therefore would not have used later resources for when the likes of Saturn VF3, Sonic The Fighters and Shenmue were being developed. I don't have the source magazine at hand, but the producer of VS in its original Model 2 form revealed a console version to be real. However, for some reason this never materialised... presumably for the same reasons Indy 500 never made it to Saturn, despite earlier promises. In other words, once the AM departments were free to handle a conversion this former high-profile game had slipped down the priority ladder to be replaced with projects of greater importance, such as Virtua Cop 2 and Fighting Vipers in that particular title's example.

Interesting. Makes me wonder if the Saturn BH2 was stopped because they started redoing the PS1 game and simply didnt think it was still worth the effort at the point of time to port it to the saturn? So maybe if Biohazard 2 wasn't restarted, we would have seen it on both the Playstation and the Saturn.

Er, what?!?!?! By the time Dreamcast was being worked on, pretty much all developers were using CartDev or Psy-Q for Saturn. Both of these needed to interface with a retail Saturn. Saturn uses SH-2 processors, Dreamcast uses sH-4s. The Saturn used a CD-ROM drive, the Dreamcast used a GD-ROM. How exactly are the Katanas meant to be modified Saturn dev kits??!?!

if anything, they'd use ready and off-the-shelf Hitachi HARP systems or the PCI version of it that can be used on a standard PC.

Hitachi HARP systems used to be (When Hitachi semiconductor was still up and running) the kits used for embedded applications for SH4 platforms. SH4 processors can be found in a wide range of products, including camcorders etc.

I m no expert at this, but from what I recall the PSX and Saturn versions of Resident Evil 2 were going to be different.
