looking forward to this. I have so much travelling coming up this year (at least 2 8 hr flights a week!) I will have plenty of time to play. Played a lot of the 3DS on the flight back to the UK for xmas and thought mario kart and mario 3d were very cool. Still got shinobi & cave story to play and with the likes of lugis mansion 2 & kid icurus coming up. So interested to see how the vita takes off and plays. The touch screen sounds interesting and I was a fan of the origional PSP (although I didnt play it much after the first couple of years as I moved country & had a small kid.) A GTA for this should be great, have they the capability to do a GTA IV stories style game? If Vita has the game quality right I think this may have a chance as the graphics are clearly top quality. I'll have one to try on the 5th as I fly into japan for the day (strategically timed meeting ;-) )
I have a 3DS and really have enjoyed it, with the ambassador games and downloads and whatnot. That being said, the Vita does look sweet, and maybe I'll also get one, once the price is less obscene down here. It depends on the lineup of games, and the availability of downloads for my market, of course. But that "region free" thing is what sells me the Vita.
Still waiting on my vita. Fark you post!!! (tracking hasn't moved since wednesday morning at 4am. Where the hell is my package?!?!?!) -side note- Post up here is closed monday/tuesday. So if it doesn't show up today i'm not getting it till mid next week (providing this suppose backlog isn't still in full force next week).
What? Really? Canadian post really is shit! I posted it on the 18th Arrived in Canada on the 20th (2 days from Japan to Canada) Today is the 24th and it's still in the same bloody place in Canada. I can't say I'm surprised though. The Canadian post are right finicky bastards. I once got a parcel returned because the address wasn't written in the order in what they wanted! They could read it and it was perfectly understandable but because the post code was written before the city name (Japanese overseas postal form layout) they sent it back :dammit: Yakumo
It can't be worse than Royal Mail in the UK. Christmas time is just ridiculous. You'll be lucky to get it by the end of next week IMO. Yakumo, think how amazing Japan Post really is. I think you take being in Japan for granted too much sometimes
Tracking doesn't always tell the truth. I have 3 packages that say they've only been dropped off at the post office, but the truth is they're on my shelf. Both HK Post and US Post are guilty of it :dammit:
I'll probably get the inevitable MGS something PSV. I'd like to, anyway. Any idea when they'll start putting kiosks in US stores?
got it now. thank god for them doing saturday delivery due to backlog (or I would have been stuck waiting till wednesday). It seems there is a backlog and my package pretty much sat two days at the sorting plant after customs (it cleared customs in 3 mins). =|
Yep. now sadly I can look at a UI and play no games. =( (i borrowed a devkit mem card and the retail units don't like them, acts like nothing is there). have to express order a card from an import shop. =\ -edit- On the system side though everything came through perfect and the unit it self has no issues. =D
Canadian post is a pain to deal with. Most times I order anything from Canada it takes ages to get my package. China it's been a hit miss, not shipping time but packages coming in damaged. But everything I have ordered from japan usually comes fast.
Game prices are nuts on import shops and I didn't want to delay shipment by having Yakumo try fetching one from a store (we got my vita off yahoo auctions since the local shops near him wanted way too much). so I opted to get psn points in advance and was just going to buy a game off the store and barrow one of the numerous 16gb cards we have at work (i work on vita). Just sony though a head and dev mem cards cant work on a retail units. =/ Oh well leson learned, Play-asia has some HK 4GB cards for $30 (which is ok) and should get me through till USA release when I can grab a 16GB or 32GB for a better price. Just have to hope it's FedEx claim of 1-3 days is accurate (PA is closed till Wednesday). -edit- I should add that I do have 3 retail vita games on order from HMV, but they won't ship out till Wednesday (last Friday was HK launch of vita and it seems HMV didn't get all their games in, so have to wait till 28th when shipping resumes). I find that kind of odd. I ship stuff to the USA frequently (and even sometimes to the UK). All my stuff gets there in pretty good time 1-1.5 weeks which is normal for airmail.
Not really. I'm glad the stuff is much better locked down this time around. I took a gamble and lost. Luckily prices on HK mem cards are horrible but bearable and I'll hopefully have a 4GB card by Friday.
I'm not excited about this yet, although maybe I should be. I'd like to see some good shots of the Japanese launch though.
Yes. Every single one of them. It's a requirement for all vita games. The game must be offered digitally, retail is optional this time around.
Wait, are you fucking serious? Digital is mandatory, but retail is optional? What kind of ass-backwards bullshit is that? This is a gaming system and not a phone, right? I guess if you live in a rural area with slow or no internet, Sony just doesn't give a shit about you, not that they give a shit about anyone else or anything. Next you'll tell me I can't use the directional pad to navigate the UI, or that the games are actually running lower than the Vita's native resolution... Hold on... I think I get it. Sony slowly kills off retail copies which means gamers have to download everything they want to play, usually paying the same price as a physical copy without actually owning the game. And if gamers wish, they can also download their UMD games from the PSP, for a fee of course. In order to download and play the games, you need a memory card since the Vita has no internal storage. Instead of using a memory stick similar to the PSP, Sony makes you pay an incredibly high amount of money in order to purchase their own memory cards (4GB=$30, 8GB=$45, 16GB=$70, 32GB=$120). If one plans to purchase a lot of Vita games, they would need to purchase multiple memory cards unless they want to constantly delete and re-download everything, assuming the server is even working when needed. This makes the "cheap" Vita actually very expensive and profitable for Sony (one $250-$300 device, and multiple $20-$40 games on multiple $30-$120 memory cards). It's all part of their evil genius plan to rip off gamers to make up for the huge loses they received from the PS3. I'm on to you Sony...:fresh:
