So actually did find Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 in the wild last night when I picked up Dragon's Crown. I started playing Sigma 2 last night and what? It tells me that if I log out of PSN it will return me to the title screen. This was odd. So I logged out of PSN this morning and booted up Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and what's this game won't let me play unless I log into PSN. Well I'm returning that bitch. But now I'm wondering what other PS3 games have this Online or else bullshit? Retail games not download games. I'd be a Hypocrite after all that anger I directed at Microsoft for doing this with every game to let it slide for games on another platform.
I'm shocked there wasn't a backlash then. From what I played of Sigma 2 it wasn't much of a leap over the 360 version. It did add boob giggle but it was WAY too easy. I don't think I'm missing anything returning it for something better that will work when PSN inevitably is turned off for PS3.
Surely it can't be always online? That would be a huge loss for them if that was the case. I know these days the % for people who have consoles attached to a broadband adaptor are quite high but this is just stupid. The same stupid talk that got the Xbox One to change its original scheme.
Oh not only will the game not play if you're off line, it has a Mandatory install too. Granted this is a game from 2009 but still the fact this bullshit actually went though astounds me and makes me squeemish about getting other Koei Tecmo games on PS3. also I'm aware of the thread title typo and that it should be Policy
The grass isn't always greener on the otherside. I'm finding I have to import some games from Europe just to have a physical Copy. My PS2 Arcade stick doesn't work on PS3 with PS1 games. (buttons work stick does not) and I still have trouble finding things in the Playstation store and should the system have an issue, PS3 behaves like windows with it's Error checking. OH and downloads take forever and then aside from downloading the game, I have to install it to. 360 you download something and it's ready to go. There are things the 360 does better, and there are things the PS3 does better. But neither are better than the other.
Have you played the first Ninja Gaiden Sigma? That's a pretty good game - very similar to the original Xbox Ninja Gaiden, but with completely new graphics. I got mine for $7, and it was in really good condition. I'm pretty sure it doesn't require PSN. Also, I suspect there's some way you can avoid signing in to PSN to play Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 - it probably thinks you want to play online for some reason.
How dare you guys use any Ninja Gaiden game other than the NES release!!! Ninja Gaiden off the NES is a big pile of shit tbh. Best game on the NES? Is .... Ninja Gaiden.
WHAT? I'm a HUGE Ninja Gaiden Fan that's why I got Sigma 2 to begin with. But I can't keep it since it's all DRMey. Maybe it's DRMless on Vita. No I have played the Demo. and I tired to play Sigma 2 without PSN and it just won't let me I tired backing out at log in and everything. It's an Always online game.
I just tried the vita version without wifi on and it loads completely. So theres no DRM on the vita version anyway. There must be some setting thats causing the ps3 version to always look for online?
Well if you look at the back cover of the game it does say Broadband required on the PS3 version. I will probably get the Vita version when I get a Vita...whenever that maybe. I hope there are no other PS3 games that do this. OH and MAG is going to be unplayable soon Sony is killing the servers for that game.
All in all having sampled all sides this has been a pretty good Generation. The PS3 though has more than it's share of bullshit though. Did they really expect me to download a 40 gig game? My PSN+ would have expired by then at the rate PSN downloads thing.
FWIW, there was some backlash when a lot of people found out about this when PSN went down for like a week and no one could play Heavy Rain, even though it is a 100% offline game. Nothing came of it though (from Sony's end). I think I caught up on FFXIII that week. Still, in the interest of placing blame where it's due, do you think this is something Sony forced, or the publisher/developer? Not every game is affected/acts like this, so it doesn't make sense that it's Sony's fault, unless I'm missing something...
I had no idea heavy rain was online. But I HATED HEAVY RAIN HATED IT. I think in Sigma 2's case it was publisher forced. Heavy Rain... eh well David Cage is a jack ass isn't he? Sony does use online passes though. They aren't perfect angels.
