yeah, like when i was 9.. :ayashi

''and it wont work in a cd burner for a computer as far as i know, the hole is too small.''

i like that part alot. :smt045

oh, and that part where they say he should call sony to know what he can do with those...
''Hi, i have blank umds at my home, what can i do with them? Like, could you give me something to burn it or anything? do you think you'll ever release this on the market, that would be really cool! 'cause, i have nothing to do with them right now, and i'm sure i would be the first one at the shop to get that machine!''

    Of course. :)

Not sure what you're asking here.

If the question is "what drives are included in the PSP dev kit?" the answer is DVD and UMD.

If the question is "what piece of kit had a UMD burner?" the answer is none. UMD burners do not exist.

with the ability to write stuff on memory stick and the integrated browser in wipeout ill think there will be soon someone who combines those and with the bugs that exist in nearly every browser to execute code it could be easier then on other portable gameunits

and yes i was referring to what drives are in the psp devkit one of our members bought one so maybe he can talk a little more on that unit

and i too believe sony has some easier option to then press the umds but on the other site they could just use the devkit and then press the final software

Sony does not have any UMD burners.

Developers do not have any UMD burners.

All UMD test discs are pressed media.

PSP Devkits have DVD and UMD drives for this reason.

Developers can burn their PSP games to DVD-R and test them in the devkit that way.
Then, when they are ready to test on a "real" unit they will send off for a small run of pressed UMDs. These can run in the devkit UMD drive or on a real PSP.

Developers need to test on UMDs because of the read speed difference between DVD-R and UMD.

I can't see what is so different with the umd format (from dvd format) that they could not have developed a umd-r from the start.

I really think sony went the smart rout and did not suport umd-r to protect themselfs from piracy (im betting when the psp is hacked its all though the mem port). So I dont think UMD-r will ever exsist.

But will it be all that expensive for someone to press pirated discs?

you couldnt use your normal cd press which is these days not really expensive cause of the different size and with the outer hull around the disc you have much work to put a working umd together

but who knows those pirates where always clever and survived =)
