I won a few items on eBay France. The seller was happy for me to send him a cheque, as my friend has a French bank account. However, it seems my friend has disappeared off the face of the Earth! Does anyone have a French bank account and a PayPal account, who would be willing to send a cheque on my behalf? The seller is OK to ship directly to me via some kind of priority mail, which is expensive but I guess a good service! So I just need a cheque sent. It is less than 30 Euros, but I would imagine PayPal would swallow enough to necessitate sending about 30! If anyone could help, it would be greatly appreciated! I would prefer to deal with someone who is a fairly established member, but if you have references feel free to offer!
Wow... 3 hours and nobody has stepped up to the plate to knock this meatball out of the park? Sorry for you non-yanks that don't know what a meatball is.
I heard all of the reliable ones died in WWII.. Surely there must be at least one reliable Frenchman on the whole of the internet though.
Yeah, I should have pointed out that the title wasn't insinuating that most of them are unreliable! Heh.
Retro, Can't you just ask for IBAN and BIC code and pay that way, directly to his French bank account? Grtz
Nope, it's a pain in the arse. We don't use IBAN here, and it costs a FORTUNE doing that (like instead of adding a few euros, double the price). Plus he said cheque only.
I'd most certainly be happy to deal with Madroms, hopefully he is around. I'll try PMing him. Thanks for the recommendation ;-)
Ooh yes, I forgot you were over there! Never mind, I've spoken to Madroms and hopefully he can help out. Why would you close your account? I'd want to keep it open, just in case. And it's possible to have a French bank account without living there.
The problem was the costs of running the account plus I have no intention of ever going back to the hell hole. Anyway Ive left now and now live in Hamburg/Stade. Much better place.
Yeah, sure, it's like this american girl who doesn't even know there are other countries besides his own, so ALL americans are stupid? Do you want to talk about your soon-to-be-former president? (even if ours is not really better). Don't generalize, people. Stupidity doesn't need something like borders or nationalities to spread (just look at this thread, a few morons are hiding).
I'm pretty sure more french people speak english, than english people speak french. Go minding about that.
But English is spoken wordwide. French isn't, so it would be kind of pointless to learn for lots of English people.
