Thanks to a new law for age rating signs, this is how games look over here from now on:



Great, isn't it? It doesn't bother me no more as I don't buy PAL games, but still. What an ugly shite law that is. For a comparison, the old logo on the other games to the left and right. Clank is completely censored, they could call the game "Ratchet & the Tools of Destruction" right away.

And you can imagine what this giant logo looks like on DS and PSP covers :lol:

If the USK ratings board is going to do this, it should at least give larger-size indicators to the games with higher age ratings.

Why they made the rating logo so bigger on the platinum version?!?!

Here in Brazil the rating logo it's like this (normal or greatest hits version)

 

Because it was produced after the change. Preexisting products are usually exempt or have to have a sticker placed on them.

I'm waiting for the day that game packages are just the rating in huge letters on the cover and the name of the game on the spine only. And parents still won't bother to look at them...

 

Yeah, parents don't give a crap about this. And that big rating logo simply made Clank disappear from the cover.

The bigger the explaing text ( blood, violence, ...) the bigger the white rectangle.

For me the best rating is in Japan and US.

this is insane! I knew that this was going to happen but i hadn't expected that the size would differ THAT much.
It's just way too big and like someone in this thread already said, is't not gonna change anything.

People that live in Favelas mostly buy pirated stuff... By the way, Not all favelas have violence. 99% of people that live there is just poor people that work a lot to try to have a decent life. It's that 1% that makes things bad.

Xbox 360
Old games cost 99 Reais, new releases distributed by M$ cost 169 / 199 Reais and new releases by Synergex, EA or NC Games cost 229 / 249 Reais.

PS3
Basicly, cost from 169 Reais to 229 Reais. No Sony distribution, so games are distributed by Synergex, EA and NC Games.

PS2
From 99 Reais to 129 Reais. Games distributed by Synergex and NC Games.

Wii
Latamel (Nintendo Brazil) and Synergex are the ones responsible. The games cost: 119 Reais / 169 Reais / 249 Reais.

Of course, prices of Limited Editions (like Halo 3) are higher. The same for Guitar Hero and those kind of stuff.
As you can see, not cheap. But all those companies are trying hard to convince the government to lower game taxes, so they can be competitive. It 's just stupid, videogames in brazil pay the same taxes of gambling machines.

Metal Slug looks truly shitty with this THING on the front but this is not the worst.
Due to the new law game titles are changed especially for germany if the title doesn't fit in because of the sign,it seems.
Have a look at "Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise" or just "Viva Piñata DS" as it's named in germany

It basically says that he tried the other language options of the game to see if there is another title screen displayed, which seems to be the case.
The german version is the only version, which is called "Viva Piñata DS" every other version goes by the name "Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise"

 

It's the law, they have to make disgusting crap now. Everyday business for designers: being frustrated because their creative work wil be ruined by the government anyway!

The consequences are obvious, e.g. the make the logos smaller. The "Final Fantasy IV"-writing shrinked a bit because some parts would have been hidden by the big "USK12" sign. Some characters are hidden as well, see Clank in the Ratchet PS3 game or the vehicle in that MS7 cover. For comparison, here's the US packshot:

And I did complain about ERSB and AeDeSe logos... :/

 

I can understand if they want people, especially parents, to know the age limits, but it would be more fair to have a large sticker on a plastic seal, so when you remove the plastic seal you still have a nice looking cover. :shrug:
