I agree with Christer, having it on the plastic seal would be much nicer. It seems to me that eventually the entire front of the box will be a rating logo with tiny text telling you what the game is. Now over here, the ESRB logos I don't really mind. They are not overly annoying or anything like that. But you know it bugs me, Movies on DVD don't have a rating plastered all over the front. So why can't they put that shit on the BACK of the game box? Either way ratings are pretty retarded as they go ignored the majority of the time. Hell when parents buy their kids a game called "Grand Theft Auto" and then complain about the content in the game, that tells you right there that nothing short of naked people fucking on the cover will stop some parents from buying a game for their kid.

I bet nazis will get back in power if they promise to get rid of those stickers:lol:

If they're so worried about a kid buying a M-17 title then just get the sign in software at the beggining of game.

i am glad i scored the original black box of god of war 2 for the price of the platinum edition a few weeks ago. but with the newer games it looks like there is no alternative than to buy us/jpn games only.

i doubt its gonna change anything, people just dont care about these logos other than ruin the games covers.

Honestly if they want to keep the logo, just make it an EASY peel off sticker on the case. That way we can take em off to admire case art and used game stores can place them back on to comply with the law. Win Win

You can still get games from other PAL countries.

Except that the politicians don't care about the quality of the case art or the fact that the parents simply don't care about the ratings. All they see is the need to put a giant warning on the boxes. You will never see such warnings implemented in a removable fashion (on the wrapper, stickers, cover sleeve insert).

Though it was a bit different in the past, on Saturn games for example there were often removable stickers on games.
They mistakenly printed "for children 6 and above" on the German release of Quake 3 for DC and fixed it by adding a 18+ sticker over the old printing.

Yup, over here parents don't care about violence so long as there is no sex involved! Chop off limbs, heads, impale people, no problem. As long as they are clothed and there is no sex involved anywhere in the game that's ok!

    my parents didn't care either.
they were too busy getting divorced anyway.

but the thing is: most parents don't care, only the institute who regulates this shit does!

    That logo is awful...

Thing is, most ratings are just stupid. some games indicate 16+ while it should be 12+, and there's also the other way around.

    I'm glad i don't live in germany.

Most parents don't care, My parents didn't really care if i was playing a violent game and they knew that it was vilonet but also knew it was just a game although they cared about what i was doing when i was outside and making sure i never got into trouble or any violence or whatever.

I think it IS in fact reasonable to care as long as it is not overdone (overdone = huge logos). I can't understand parents who let their 3 or 4-year old children play the whole day. It's just due to their very personal lazyness. And just like that I don't understand people who don't care what their children play... I mean maybe there are a lot of children who can differentiate reality and virtual reality, but isn't the "won't harm anybody" way of thinking the wrong way too? There's better and more adequate entertainment made for kids untill they are mature enough, I don't think one should underestimate the effects of violent images in any way.
Sex is far less harmful and is being treated exactly the other way around. But these are just my 2¢.

Now that I think about it, my parents let/made me watch "Faces of Death" when I was around 5 or 6. At least I turned out well adjusted...
