I bought this ages ago from someone here but it's never worked. I switch modded (50/60Hz) a PAL Megadrive earlier and decided to give it another crack just in case it made a difference, still no dice, so opened it up... the board is pretty unusual for a pirate cart, no? No glop-top crap, some actual work went into making it, and the storage seems to be Intel-brand Flash. That doesn't sound cost-effective, not by pirate standards anyway.

Anyone else know of this game or ever get it working?

Hehe, ive seen some wierd pirate crap in my time but thats up there with them. Looks like they just used a couple of signal diodes to drop the supply voltage .. tsk .. cheap assed pirates :p

If you want the flash TSOP dumping btw then i don't mind doing it for you. I have the programmer, adaptors and the hot air station sat here doing nothing :)

I hadn't seen that, I'm sure it's just as bad as you say. I wouldn't mind owning a working copy though, if either of you two want rid of it PM me with a price.

It was dumped ages ago I guess. I hadn't come across a working ROM but found one just now.

You bought that from me and yep, it did work. I even have a video of it on my site that was taken from that cartridge. I had about 5 MD pirate carts that looked like that one on the inside. Maybe the chip had died? Here it is in action but as wheelaa said, it's not very good.

Looking at Alchy's cart I can now safely say that it isn't mine. Alchy's cart looks to be made from good materials. Mine is really nasty shit. So I guess I still have mine. If I do I'll put it up for sale in the sales section in about 5 hours when I get home.

This game was developed in China, under contract, by my friend TommyXie, using his custom Mega Drive development kit. He later released the development kit for free, at my urging. I don't recall the download URL at this time, but if you search about the forums over @ Sega-16.com, you'll likely find it with no trouble.

Yeah, after seen the cartridge case I knew it wasn't mine. The question isthough, where did I put my copy? Have I already sold it ? or it is hiding under a load of stuff? If I find it I will put it up for sale.

Why not? TommyXie is a good programmer, and a nice guy. It's no reflection on his abilities that companies in China only wanted to pay him to quickly hack together a crap game for them to fleece people with. If they had been given the chance (and the time) to shine, lots of Chinese MD programmers would have produced much better results than the shoddy games we've seen released. It's not a lack of skill that limited them, but rather the greed of their employers.

I'm not sure. I don't have a list of all the games he programmed.

As far as I remember, this game (it exists as a ROM named Irak War) does not work on console models with TMSS (those with the BIOS licensing screen generally have TMSS).

Indeed, this game (and a few others developped with TomSoft devkit) will write the "SEGA" register with unexpected values after proper initialization, result being the console got locked when the game try to access video chip.

I have a couple of import adapters but they don't seem to make any difference. Any mod that can fix this? Perhaps to the Megadrive itself (similar to removing the 10NES chip for the NES)?
