What is it with you people and the bashing of America? I'm sorry that your game instructions are of awful quality, but I'll be damned if all Americans are like that. I don't like my country either, but games with lower-caliber instructions don't just come from America (all of my games are rather nice).

I don't mean to start a flame war here, but it's something that's been building up for a while. I'm sorry if I offend anyone.

Trust me Taemos, you have FULL support on that issue. I dont know why these people "assume" if something is shitty, it was made in America. Shit knows no international boundaries. What about Working Designs? They are in America, and yet they dont really make games, They do AWESOME jobs on the imports, and sometimes make them better.

Now, im not trying to start a flamewar either, but Im tired of hearing BS about America and its game products.

You're missing his point. He's not saying it's shitty because it's from America - he is saying it's shitty and it's from America aswell as being a Japanese game unusually not manufactured in Japan.

Sorry, but I gotta agree with him as well.

Especially the 'I don't....for a while' part, seems familiar. Didn't want to post about it, but now you did..

Argh! I wouldn't want to sell my original Saturn cases! I'm fussy like that, hehe.

Couldn't that easily damage the spines, Yakumo? They look out in the open to me! lol.

Also, how so about the case matching? I posted on the board a while ago, asking if anyone knew where I could get replacement cases for my Japanese Saturn games, as I had broken some. You yourself replied saying you don't know!

In particular, those ones with the grey backs with the thin teeth.... they snap really easily!

Yakumo I'm happy to hear that you got to keep your games even though your wife told you to sell them. The thing is, you'll end up back to square one because you'll probably buy more games now since you have more room :smt043

Dude, your house has to be bigger than my first 3. Tokyo is ridiculously small... I went from 22 square meters, to 30 square meters, then my wife (at the time girlfriend) moved in. I finally lived in a big place my last 9 months of Japan.

If I ever go back, it'll probably reasonably spaced, but more than just one room.

I feel your pain though dood. I sold a lot of games to save space... then wound up buying 'em back.

Are Japanese women the same as western women?

Tell her to sell some of her shoes, see how she feels about THAT! ;-)

I have to agree that some American games are shit... like the US Saturn games. Damn if they don't take up too much space and while I like the big manual, I like the JPN games better. The art work is almost always 100 % better in other regions.

Oh and that game (Revolution X) is total crap. :-D

Yakumo, be sure to take note which games use what type of jewel case. (Black/white/clear part that the CD goes into)

thank you LeGIt. That's right. I'm saying the game is shitty because it's shitty. Nothing to do with it being from America. Japanese games are made in Japan but this one isn't. That's probably why it has shitty quality print. Nothing to do being made in American, just that it wasn't made in the same place as the others. I wasn't bashing the US. Try reading my post more carefully. I know it may look like I'm saying the game is shitty because it's made in America but I'm not.

No, the spines are quite safe and free from bendind ;-) As for the CD cases, I thought you were after some PAL cases. If it's Japanese Saturn cases you want then they cost 100 yen for 3.

  16. But can't you find those anywhere? :smt043

And I know you didn't mean any offense Yakumo, but I can see how the others came up with the "It's from America = shit" conclusion, as in your original post as well as your explanation, you commented on the crappy packaging as being a result of the game not being made in Japan, i.e. "Japanese games are made in Japan but this one isn't. That's probably why it has shitty quality print."

Like I said, I know you didn't mean it that way, but it was easy to see how it could be misconstrued.

Not to veer offtopic, but Taemos, Mr. Casual, et al. do have a point on the America-bashing as well, just as a general note to everyone, not pointing any fingers or anything, but it does tend to get old after a while.

Anywho... no hard feelings from anyone towards anyone, eh? :smt023

Frankly, shitty packaging is well down the list of America's problems these days.

    Depressingly True, Anagrama.

However, many american games DO have HORRIBLE manuals. I really really hate that Capcom, for example, did Viewtiful Joe and Breath of Fire Dragon Quarter manuals in Black and White.
That, added to the GENIUS translation of the Breath of Fire manual...
In the other hand, every PSX and PS2 release of Working Designs games had beautiful manuals. I especially liked Alundra and ThunderForce V for the PSX, though the manual for PS2 Silpheed (not quite a good game, though) is also really really cool.

I'm looking forward to buying growlanser generations just for the Urushihara artwork.

Yakumo, you should really tell your wife to understand your hobby. Does she not like videogames? The "shoes" alternative listed up there seems reasonable enough. Still, sir, congrats on the great space-saving alternative.
There are some cases at Office Depot that also look quite stylish, keep some 20 something CDs in envelopes like yours, and have space for 10 regular CD cases. Maybe if there's an office depot where you live now, you should find them. I got two for the equivalent of five dollars.
    That should work.

I agree with the comments about US games..... some of the packaging is big and clunky (especially Saturn), and the reworked artwork was rather iffy too. However, SOA learned their mistake and made some very nice DC cases, indeed many people collect US games before anything else. Europe, on the other hand, kept the clunky approach, although I have to admit those blue cases are nicer than some packaging, at least they have a bit of style!

Still, its just the decision of a US marketing team that maybe could have been better, just like the redesign of the SNES! I don't mean the latest one, I mean changing the look from the Super Famicom look (kept in Europe) to that big clunky space ship engine look! I don't think that is criticizing Americans in general. I don't agree with yank bashing (hmm, sounds rude!), but I guess you could blame the one man who represents your country. If that is what Americans are supposed to be like, God help us! Hehe, but seriously, Americans are cool (usually), and I wouldn't tolerate people unnecessarily criticizing any race, religion, or other group. A small (maybe stereotypical) gag is OK, but don't overdo it.

I have to say, though, I feel that this forum is a good community. It is well moderated, and not just by the mods but the other users themselves will often stick up for someone. I have seen many forums where people don't appreciate that they are talking to real people, and are rude and abusive but "it's just a joke / bit of fun"....and the moderation can be very slack too.

So.... well done to everyone on keeping this a nice place! :smt023

    re

I certainly meant no offense by it, and I don't think Yakumo did (I hope not at least :smt023 ). It's just something that's been eating away at me for awhile, as I've said. But no hard feelings :-D

I feel bad for you, though, Yakumo. I certainly wouldn't be able to cram all of my games in one box like that (my PC games, anyway [I wish I had that many DC games]). I'm glad you found a way to get past her nagging, though :smt045 .
