Have you seen my wishlist? This is still a work in progress. Im still working on updating it with games that look interesting to me. I think Im doing pretty good considering I only buy games I intend to PLAY (and I dont even have a job!). As soon as I get a good income, my list'll soar, you'll see! Its all about quality over quantity, anyway. My collection habits, anyway. BTW, I have some pretty rare/expensive games in there. If $85 counts as expensive.
Thanks. I think I'll try to get more sometime soon, and maybe that AC adapter. The VB sucks up batteries like nobodys buisiness.
85!!!!!...yikes...im sorry, my total for games is only 250(list coming soon)...but 85?.....i would never spend that much unless, its super rare,,...i would rather buy a console or dev hardware if i could for that price
I have more on my wishlist than yours :icon_bigg. I never plan on getting half the games on it though.
Hehe. Makes me fell like a big man. I have more than that. I have two strategies: 1. Buy lots of stuf for insanely good deals so I generally have more hardware and more games. This is where my large collections for common consoles come from. 2. Buy select systems and games that I want and don't stand a chance of finding in some sort of big lot. Neo, Imports, Dev stuff when it interests me, rare stuff. I have a good time doing it this way. I discover new games I've never heard of buy buying big lots of games cheap. AND I specifcally go after games I want.
I forgot the Virtual Boy could run on batteries, I've had the AC adapter since I bought it, and never put in the battery pack.
I convey my messages in which ever way I see suitable for the situation. Sometimes you need to sacrifice being friendly to get your point across.
FYI, the Virtual boy uses the same ac addapter as the SNES/SuperFamicom, it just puts the standard plug inside of a funkey enclosure. In a pinch, i once tested a VB unit with a SNES power plug and a pair of aligator clips. Uhhh.... i don't actually recomend doing that, however. I've never really looked into it, but i wouldn't think it would be too dificult to adapt the battery pack to take the SNES ac adapter... I'm going to look into that more this weekend.
True, it does use the same adapter. But I thought you could just plug it in, without the need to rig up some aligator clips. But I haven't had any of my VB stuff out in a long while, so this is just from memory. A bit more on topic - those IGN lists have a fairly nice setup. They just need a custom section where you can add dev/promo stuff. (maybe they have one, I haven't used it before) Is there anything you can use to create an organized list like those offline, other than using MS Word or Excel and creating your own layout? I would like to do something like that eventually. But right now lack the time and effort to create one. Props to those of you that have! I know it was probably very time consuming (depending on collection size obviously)
Let me put it to you this way.. If I have almost every system, and dev kit, why not want to have every game for one console? Within reason is how I collect. I don't go for $$$ titles because of the bragging rights. I like to play games, so if I have a few hundred nes carts, what's wrong with that?
Unless you have a lot of older games that aren't released on the US. From my account, there are around 25 games missing, mostly PC football games. Mobygames now has a collection thingy which should take advantage of the ever increasing database, although it looks a bit too rough around the edges for me to use. Looks more a trade list than anything else, really.
Exactly. If you like video games, and have pretty much all the hardware you'll ever need, all that's left to buy is games. There's plenty of reason to buy pile upon pile of common games. First, a game doesn't have to be imported from Japan/have increased in value despite it's age in order to be fun. Second, they make a great gift for nostalgic friends. Third, you can toss any old system and a couple of commons on eBay, and you've got 20 to 30 extra dollars in your pocket. Believe me folks, I'm not saying that good games aren't worth the money, but theres a lot to be said about having a huge library of games to choose from. Sure, you might get stuck with some crappy games (I'm looking at you, Odyssey 2) but even the shitty ones are worth a laugh every so often. Remember, the guy isn't claiming to have a hugely valuable collection, he just has a big one.
This guy has more games than me. But I've got more systems than him. Having such a large collection does get a bit disappointing, I'm sure all of us have games we've picked up cheap and haven't played yet. There are only so many hours in a day, and with 47 systems to choose from some of it tends to get ignored. I guess the Idea is that eventually I'll get around to playing them all, or just selling the stuff I'll never play.
A man after my own heart Although that said the biggest deal I ever did, about $15k, was for a shed load of neo and pce stuff. Go figure? Plus I do have the completist gene too, as well as the anal collector gene..oh look its rare and expensive..checks fundage etc. Seriously though as long as you like what you have then fantastic!
I never said there was anything wrong with collecting every game for a system. What I was saying was the collection in the link really wasn't as impressive as the thread started said it was. "Does this guy ever post here? Because something tells me that the only way to get all those games is to pass thru assembler" This is the line that didn't make any sense to me though, and it's what I was really attacking when I made my reply. From this line, it seems as if the thread starter was implying that the ASSEMbler forums is all about getting lots of games. You don't have to "pass through assembler" to get games like that. Just go to eBay.
You sir, are a maniac. I'm sooo jealous. My Neo Geo and PC Engine Collections combined are probably worth about 4 or 5 hundred. You know what that tells me? I need more Neo games... Man, I just want more of everything.
