Well just like the BS rumors about the Next Box PS4 rumors are starting to come about. I guess since all the rumors about the nextbox have been debunked they figured the PS4 is fair game now. Much of the rumors are copy and pasted from articles about other systems. http://kotaku.com/5896996/the-next-playstation-is-called-orbis-sources-say-here-are-the-details I'm just going to roll my eyes and hope Sony shuts these people up fast. with Solid facts. For those that hate Kotaku here are some highlights. -No used games again (like the PS3 rumor and the Next Box Rumor) - No PS3 BC at all - ALL AMD no IBM anything at all (which has already been debunked) -Games are locked the system you have to have PSN for them to work. SO half the country won't beable to get a PS4 then? Yeah I call BS right away. AND at the end of the article Kotaku even admits...it's BS So what is this an Early April Fools Joke or Kotaku just proving they are the biggest joke website on the internet? The Weekly World News of Video games if you will. Oh one last quote of stupdity IN WHAT LANGUAGE does Orbis sound like Four?
"Sony has no plans to offer backwards compatibility for its existing catalogue of PS3 games." Yeah, if you'd like to completely kill the company. Also in the BS section: http://www.edepot.com/playstation4.html
Kotaku is full of idiots but the orbis part might be legit (as a codename obviously). I don't know of anything personally but on how the devnet site works the orbis link is legit.
Both the PS4 and Nextbox are still at the most 2 years away so 2 years before something is unveiled are detials leaking? I think any rumor about a TRUE next gen console (Wii U don't count as it's closer to a Current Gen console than next gen) is pure BS. Considering how many outlets are now making extra money on used game sales, the death of the used market is pure distilled BS another gaming tabloid is in on the BS4 rumors http://www.mcvuk.com/news/read/rumo...-includes-anti-pre-owned-tech-due-2013/093509
I think kotaku is generally bs but the next platform is well into development. As BS as it might sound there are some elements of truth in rumors we hear about the next generation of a device even if the rumors don't usually pan out. There were lots of rumors on the vita that turned out to not be true but at one point actually were true or in consideration.
We know both the nextbox and PS4 are on the way. But these rumors UGh..... doesn't make the next gen sound very good. As if games are just disposable or something.
Yeah, most of them pretty much are... I've kept most of my current-gen games in case I ever wanna go through them again. You guessed it, haven't replayed a single one.
Well something to consider is the rumors could be ideas floated but that does not mean they will happen. Stuff can and will change up until the last minute. If you ask me, the whole used game portion more sounds like a more integrated and streamlined system to what publishers do now with online passes. It blows balls but hey see gamestop's last financials. =(
I'm seriously sick of publishers and developers using the Second Hand game market as a scapegoat. No one gave 2 fucks about the Second Hand market back in the days when NEW games cost 50-100+$ back in the 90's. http://www.dualshock...n-knights-head/ According to the Head of Silicon Knights "the secondhand market is increasing the price of new titles at retail." That's complete and utter bullshit. When have you seen a game go for more than 60$ other than for LE's today? That's right never. And weren't the same people saying they increased the price from the PS2 era of 50$ to 60$ because of DEVELOPMENT COSTS? Taking out the Second Hand market out of the equation denies future generations(and those who actually like to play older games or games that are out of PRINT or are hard to find new copies of) the right to experience those games. And importantly, you can't logically plan for everything. No matter what you do when selling a title, luck has a large part (imo) in how they are going to do profibility wise. People could be wanting to buy the game but cannot for whatever reason , or they chose a TERRIBLE time to release it (Read: Tales of The Abyss Right around FFXII, and other cases) The easiest solution is pointing to "Digital Only" Which is honestly a GOOD way to get games the Fastest...if you are lucky enough to have a good enough Net Speed without bandwidth caps. (in turn this will deny those who can't get internet the ability to play games) And Digital Only is the BANE of collectors like many of us.
I was thinking I bet it's really a vocal minority that are decreeing used sales and the tabloids like Kotaku pick it up then the rest of the gaming media covers it and it blows up to sound like a bigger problem to developers than it is. And the sad part is........eventually I'll run out of Saturn games. There are still 1000s of PS2 games though..... and Gamecube
If games goes through the download-only route in the future, we'll basically have to give up on game collecting. Those newer generations will suck. No comments. lol
I think with Capcom ignoring fan demands, DLC everywhere, potential for download only..... 1983 will repeat it self and there will be another crash. In fact...I'm predicting it right now by 2020 there will be another crash. Followed by a rebirth that goes back to basics and what used to work.
Can the market crash a little bit earlier? We are really needing it, in my humble gamer opinion. Maybe the gaming market will go back to normality once again.
