there's not even i snowball chance in hell i'll dish out 200euros or more for a kindle, but i found this on ebay from a prominent seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BINATONE-2283-SLIMLINE-READ-ME-CLASSIC-6-E-READER-/250880488903#shId seems it's e-ink too and most customer reviews seems good. (even thought it's difficult to say because the was an older version with almost the same name that had problems)... Anyone saw one of these things life? Or better owns one? Thanks in advance, karsten
Never seen the appeal to be honest. Work@ home > dsktop, work away > laptop. Anything else seems pointless to me.
i guess it's so because you don't like the idea of reading in a long airplane flight, or in sunny beach
I have a Sony PRS-350, if it is sunny you can even read it better than a real book, way less blinding than real paper. Also it turns the pages fast (unlike the oyo that I had before). Regarding the reader you linked to: for that price, just try it!
Honestly, save your money for a Kindle, Nook, or even a Sony, just make it a name brand. Buy used even, I had bought my Kindle 2 for 100$ US with a case and unlimited 3g. I know its different there, but buying a quality device will make all the difference on if you will enjoy it.
I've got a Sony PRS-300. Base model, can't do anything but read books (good, no distractions) unless you install PRS+ (adds games, calc, a clock on the status bar, a few other enhancements). To be honest, I'd recommend paying a bit more and grabbing something that has a community built around it. I'm biased of course, but I would suggest getting a Sony Reader and popping PRS+ on it for the enhancements. And Calibre instead of the god awful official program.
I use these papery things, which are known as books. They look a lot better on the shelf then a kindle, are generally harder wearing and normally have a good resale value. I can even borrow them from these big stone buildings called Libraries.
Many libraries have started lending eBooks I keep a quite large collection of books, but still enjoy my Reader. For longer trips, you can load up a few dozen and pick what you want to read without having to carry around, well, a dozen books.
+1 for Sony eBook Readers. I bought one for my wife and she loves it. Shocking that sony's ebook store has a pretty good collection and very reasonable prices (prices are equal or less then other places). Why it over a book, small light and takes up so little space. Plus all the extra features are great and useful for my wife (like dictionary lookup). Why it over a tablet, you really have to try eInk to understand. Really comfortable to read, low battery consumption (last for weeks), viewable in many different light situations.
they don't print all the internet stuff i plan to read on such a device... and printing it on paper would surpass the cost of a kindle in a very short time.
The issue with the one on eBay you posted is that you probably can't access the Kindle book store or similar eBook compendiums, so you'd probably be limited to pdf's. Maybe that's what you want, though.
Just get a Kindle and be done with it. There are several versions available now with special offers and sponsored ads for those who are cheap or can't afford the full price. An e-Reader is infinitely more useful when you have easy access to a full online bookstore. If you enjoy loading new content manually via a usb cable, then go for the knock off brands. Also, be wary of the e-ink displays on the cheaper devices...they're not all equal in terms of visual quality and ghosting. Case in point, the first version of the Kobo reader had a terribly blurry display.
DON'T buy anything that doesn't use an e-ink screen. I'm telling you, it's NOT the same as reading a book. I've used a few e-book reaers and to be honest the latest Kindel is best out of all. Fast, amazing battery life, a screen you can see in any light condition just like a real book. But like a real book you can't read it in the dark. Yaumo
Ok, then your only real issue then with the cheap one is speed. It may not seem such a big deal but it soon begins to annoy when you flick to turn the page and then you're left waiting. Also the touch screen (if it has one) may be poor like all the shit that comes out of China on the tablet front. Finally the weight of the unit. Again, it may not seem a big deal but you want something light as can be for comfort. This is another reason why I liked the Kindle. Still, if the system suits you then I'd say it's a deal for sure. i was just wondering about it for it seems they only ship to UK i think that in any case i'll be waiting for price drops on better readers...
