I think Evangelion is a load of crap. Can't understand why it's so popular :smt009 I found the older classic GunBuster to be far more interesting. Also very odd the way the 6th part is in Black & White. Yakumo
They're doing 2-4 from what I've heard. Anime's I like: Maison Ikkoku I still like... I pretty much watch nothing though. After living here for almost 7 years, I've seen Appleseed, Monoke Hime, and Sen to Chihiro.
GaijinPunch are you a fan of Miyazaki's Ghibli mate? wonder have you been to Miyazaki Museum? missus liked that short film based on Totoro as she's a big fan of Totoro... we've got all Miyazaki's work except Marco & mirai shyounen Conan(?)... cheers
Grave of the fireflies is amazing, I cried buckets first time I watched it. Later, I bought the dvd, not as sad when you know the ending.... CHOBITS!!!!!!!!!!! My alltime favourite anything! BEST ANIME EVAR!!! Cowboy Bebop is good too. Video Girl AI is fun... Dont trust anything dragon ball & Z. Just the way casual watchers get their kicks from sweaty men fighting...
Grave of the fireflies is my all time fav and missus hasn't finished watching saying it was too distressing to watch... has it not been an anime don't think this could've been made in Japan IMHO anime or not this is the film anyone should see the stark reality of war where there is no winner but only losers.... cheers

Evangelion Trigun Akira Gundam wing Nadesico Escaflowne Zone of the enders Mahou Senshi Riui Ghost int the shell
Fist of the North Star Fist of the North Star Hokuto no Ken Fist of the North Star Hokuto no Ken :smt082 And now for the shows that aren't all the same show: Future Boy Conan Space Adventurer Cobra Rose of Versailles (AKA Lady Oscar) SDF Macross Captain Harlock And now for some things that aren't 20+ years old: Shin Getter Robo Giant Robo Key the Metal Idol Excel Saga (works best if you've seen the above titles first) Here is Greenwood Patlabor Boogiepop Phantom Anything Yoshitoshi ABe was involved in (such as Lain and Haibane Renmei) Now and then, Here and There I also second pretty much everything Yakumo and dj898 said.
Yes, and no. I like it about as much as most people like it. His movies do really well -even amongst non-anime buffs. No, but I've thought about it. Might be one thing to do before heading off... that and the Tobacco and Salt Museum.
I wasn't big fan of Miyazaki myself though I liked Totoro... it wasn't till I got married and found out missus is HUGE fan of Miyazaki and soon I started to collect all his movie on DVD and etc. last time when we were in Tokyo - before my daughter was born - we heard about Ghibli Museum and thought to drop by... wasn't easy to find and apparently you need to buy the ticket and wait for the shuttle bus at the station - we forgot the ticket so I had to travel back and forth to get the tickets. Anyway it was interesting place to visit but the highlight was the short movie they were showing... these were especially created for the museum and one was based on Totoro and the other on Porco Rossa(?) - is it right name? Due to time limit we could only see Totoro one but it was very amusing... and missus just loved it! we are planning to drop by again when my daughter is old enough - assuming the museum will be there of coz.. cheers
I didn't either, but it leaves you with a pretty sick feeling in your stomach. I made a friend of mine watch it one time when we had been eating mushrooms all night. He was a bit mad at me, to say the least.
