What do you rate as the best PD soundtrack? I only have one (the Azel Memorial CD) but it's the only game soundtrack I find myself listening to....ever. Very, very good stuff.

Well, it's not that obvious, because we weren't talking about video games, but audio CDs.
I was just pointing out that the "factory sealed" crazyness applies in that category as well.

On the subject of Panzer Dragoon RPG and its soundtrack, how rare is the first print edition with the playable bonus trial for Saturn? I didn't even know this existed until quite recently, though what's even more of a surprise is the inclusion of a demo - surely this was the first disc (as given away with SSM in the UK), and not just the FMV included on western samplers like Sega Flash Vol. 7?

I've never heard the soundtracks for Panzer Dragoon other than the first two games. Are the others any good? PD Zwei, with its more military/ambient themes, I don't care much for. The first game's whole soundtrack, however, is just to die for. I have the OST CD for it as well (the music from the intro cinema is the best of the lot.) Are any others worth getting?

are you talking about this one:
    http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn-demo,,MJCA-00009,,Azel-Panzer-Dragoon-RPG-OST-JPN.html
(I just got a mini cover for you to check) or here:
    http://www.sun-inet.or.jp/~dds552/img/azel-cd1.jpg

This compil is not so rare.
The audio cd has only 18 tracks (list here: http://www.shonan.ne.jp/~shida/gm/program/p9712/mjca00009.html ) and the demo disc is the same as this one:
    http://www.satakore.com/sega-saturn-demo,,610-6749,,Azel-Panzer-Dragoon-RPG-Taikenban-JPN.html

You can also check this site:

for some info about panzer dragoon games/vg soundtracks/books/...

I find everything about the first PD (soundtrack included) VASTLY inferior to each subsequent game. It's the ambient tunes which started in PD Zwei and have given each game it's drive if you ask me.

This is the album I was referring to, which is technically a "rerelease" of Azel: PD Complete Album (which is apparently not complete, FYI). According to the site Madroms posted, the original sold out immediately, and was going for prices upwards of 50,000 yen. I've only seen either on YJ a couple times, and the sellers want a stupid amount of money for them.

As far as I remember the most expensive OST that I've ever seen was the Chaos Seed one.It cost 98000 yens,it was in Den den machi in the shop near Supapotato and I've even token a picture of it:

I don't know exactly why the price is so high and if it actually sells at this price.Seems that this game series is pretty "popular" in Japan, the games themselves are a bit expensive.

Never liked the music to any of the PD games, just glad that most of the Sega game music that I want is cheap (when it shows up, took me 3 years to find a copy of Le Mans 24 in the wild.) Two CDs I am trying to find are the Heavenly Symphony CDs (that F1 Racing game on the Mega CD).

In terms of insane prices, the music for Alien Solider on the Megadrive was 55,000 the last time I look, the music is okay but nothing too special. There does seem to be a premium on OSTs for games that are expensive for no good reason.

Funny enough I saw this in Super Potato in Akihabara yesterday and it was 'only' 58,000 Yen! In fact you could get a new sealed one for 69,000 Yen. Yep this is probably the most expensive CD I've seen to date.

Well, it's a pretty well-known fact that the stuff in Super Potatoe's case isn't really for sale. Even the not-so-primo games in ther are marked up about 30%, and the really primo ones up to 300%. They probably make more money off of showcasing them and getting people in buying the cheap stuff.

You mean... that was actually released on CD? :eek:h:

(not that it's any good imho, the vocals often ruin the song - I prefer the in-game music, most of the time)
