I'm quite partial to some Acid Bath, radiohead I also enjoy opeth If I'm in a flashy heavy metal mood. Youtube it if you don't know these bands I Could really do with some more trashy metal band recommendations. And how about yourself? What do you listen to in your spare time?
I listen to some of the harder new age rock, many forms of metal, and more recently electronica. Specifically dubstep thanks to some awesome brony music producers like WoodenToaster, TheLivingTombstone, and others.
Well said. you and your creepy brony buzz. show me some brony sugar you flirt. But what metal bands? I've never listened to fear factory so im off to do that now. Oh also I like flaming lips I use to love when i was stoned but now i have to go clean or ill never get work. I've done alot of drugs man.
I don't know that I could even begin to list artists, it would take ages to type it all out. http://www.last.fm/user/alecjahn isn't up to date (haven't had the program on my computer since april) but it's something.
I listen to mostly Jazz, Hip-hop, Indie and Electronic music The bands or rappers I mostly listen to are Animal Collective(Most Favorite band ever!!), Crystal Castles, DJ Shadow(Endtroducing.... Is one of my favorite albums ever), XXYYXX(if you like Trap/chillwave), Flying Lotus, Wu-Tang Clan, OFWGTKA, A Tribe Called Quest and a lot more music.
If we're going desert island discs here I'd have to say: Foo Fighters, John Mayer and The Shins. All three of which I have seen live
Muse, RHCP, Foo Fighters, U2, Radiohead, etc etc. On occasion I enjoy some Netsky, Camo & Krooked, Dead Mau5, Daft Punk, etc. Muse's latest live concert was absolutely the best thing I have ever been to. Plus I got a high five from Matt, and a friend got a manly handshake so it makes it all the better.
I like a lot of music, especially Progressive Rock, the classics like Yes, Genesis, Supertramp, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, ELP...but also the newer Neo-Prog with bands like Transatlantic, Spock's Beard, Magenta, Karnataka, It Bites (not really new, I know)...this type of music doesn't fit my age, as I'm quite too young, but I don't mind, because I love it! Of course Game Music and I'm also intro Progressive Trance with DJs like Above & Beyond, Dinka, Bloodgroove and Kikis, Chicane, Michael Cassette,...
PUnk rock. Nofx, Dead Kennedys, Offspring, Iggypop and the stooges, Clash, Street Dogs, Dropkick Murpheys, Agent Orange and the sexpistols as well as many other punk bands.
Mostly Shoegazing, preferably the first Gen bands that came out of England, rather than the second gen "mostly American" Post-Shoegaze (Nu-Gaze) bands and the like. Bands such as My Bloody Valentine, Ride, Swervedriver, Kitchens of Distinction, Chapterhouse, Pale Saints, the Boo Radleys, Lush, Catherine Wheel, and Slowdive. The much Newer Shoegazing bands i like are: Ringo Deathstar, A Place to Bury Strangers, Ceremony, The Fleeting Joys, Working for A Nuclear Free City, Jesu, My Vitrol, and School of Seven Bells. Possibly the most innovative music to come out of my dear country, shame the scene was small, and it was crushed underfoot by the massive Britpop scene at the time. It was a perfect mix of dreamy pop soundscapes (a la The Cocteau Twins), and heavy "wall of sound" guitars pioneered by bands such as Sonic Youth and Jesus and the Mary Chain. It was pretty much the British answer to America's Alt Rock (Grunge) at the time, and it could of been the future of British music, but sadly it wasn't, and the scene died pretty much around 1993. In fact i like to compare Shoegazing to New York's No-Wave scene in the 70's. Both extremely innovative spins on the rock formula but didn't get no where near the attention they deserved.
I'll list my iTunes library artists, nice and easy that way! :loyal: Akiakane, The Amps, Angelfish, The Ataris, Bad Religion, Ben Folds Five, Billy Joel, The Breeders, Cake, The Clash, Cold Chisel, The Cure, Custard, The Dandy Warhols, Electric Light Orchestra, Fastball, Fatboy Slim, Foo Fighters, Frenzal Rhomb, Garbage, Green Day (Nothing beyond American Idiot though...), Grinspoon, Guns N' Roses, Guttermouth, Hole, Jebediah, The Living End, Mad Caddies, Marilyn Manson, Matchbox Twenty, Metallica, The Muffs, No Doubt, NOFX, Oasis, The Offspring, Pixies, Queen, Rancid, Red Hot Chili Peppers, S.S.T. Band, Sakura Taisen, Scandal, The Seatbelts, Shonen Knife, Silverchair, Softball, SORR Team, Stray Cats, The Superjesus, and The Triple J Hottest 100 as far as volume 12. I consider The Living End, The Offspring and Green Day the core three in my collection. They were there when I discovered music and have a pretty big influence on me. Of course over time their styles have changed and I have failed to adapt, rejecting all their new work. Offspring died for me at Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace. The Living End died at Modern Artillery... but I can handle some of their newer (2003-2008) stuff. Anything newer is terrible. Green Day had a good run up until American Idiot. After that, they have fallen on deaf ears. At the turn of the millennium, I realised that the ARIA charts had turned to absolute hell. There was more hip-hop than I could poke a stick at. My tastes require something a little faster than hip-hop, so I saw the end of a Tony Hawk game or movie or a skater turning tricks and looked at the credits. Downloaded all the bands in the credits and found Bad Religion and NOFX. I rediscovered Rancid this way too. Seems to be every 4-5 years that I refresh my music. Most recently we have the wonderful Shonen Knife making a big entrance, as we also have other oddities like the Sakura Taisen compilation, Akiakane, Softball, The Seatbelts and Scandal. Some of these have joined thanks to Anime, such as Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Scandal) and The Seatbelts were thanks to Cowboy Bebop. Akiakane were / are Softball evolved I'm pretty sure. And Softball were thanks to their association with Frenzal Rhomb. Talk about complicated! I'd say I am a 1990s kid for sure. Even if I only realised a lot of it at the turn of the decade... my bad! :victorious:
Mainly progressive rock - Yes, Mystery, Genesis, King Crimson, Pink Floyd,. Also, like other bands like Boston, ELO, Asia, Rush. Those are the big ones.
I'll just list a few: Modest Mouse, Built to Spill, 764-HERO, Red Stars Theory, Lync, Pixies, The Breeders, The Shins, Flake Music, Aphex Twin, the pillows, Frank Black, Nirvana (occasionally). Those are the more modern bands I listen to on a regular basis, mostly indie rock. I also love classic rock and other older groups, though I don't listen to them as much as I used to. A few examples of those: The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Moody Blues, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Crosby, Stills, and Nash (in their various different incarnations), ELO. That should give you an overall view of my musical tastes. I also love Weird Al, though that's more for the lyrical content than the music.
I like so much stuff. I can get down with metal, classic rock, gangster rap, 60's country, maybe even some electronic noise
