I'm currently driving a 1999 VW Passat tdi 160bhp automatic...the torque on this thing is awesome, front tyre bills are not however xD, gonna replace it in a few months with a 04/05 Audi A4 sport tdi when I find the funds .

I think US Premium fuel is the same as standard fuel in Japan and the UK. I've heard a few stories of how poor the regular fuel is in the US. The Japanese version of that Mazda uses regular fuel. My car can run on both regular and premium although you do get a better kick at mid range from premium.
Advertising words are off, but its actually roughly the same, the asian method just shows RON or MON whichever is higher. North america, and some other countries average the 2 figures: (RON + MON) / 2. But either way, unless the car runs on premium(unless it has a knock sensor), it will run on any swill above 87 (RON + MON) / 2, and above 2000ft- 85 (RON + MON) / 2. Also keep in mind more RON/MON doesn't mean more power per gallon of gas(its usually less) or cleaner, it just means less susceptibility to knock, which means you can tune your ignition timing to create more power. If a car doesn't have a knock sensor. It will see no use for premium fuel. Keep in mind only like 22% of modern cars sold even have them. It doesn't matter anyways, it takes alot for E85( another fuel sold in the US, the 85 refers to the gasoline alcohol mix) to ever knock. And is the lay persons race fuel in the USA. Funny thing is this is a budget fuel for flex fuel vehicles. But it you tune your timing, have a big turbo, you can get power numbers close to race fuel on it. Since the mazdaspeed 3 has a knock sensor, it can also use regular US fuel, but it will constantly kill the timing, giving poor power numbers and bad gas mileage. I actually have put in mid-grade fuel all its life(89), with no issues. The gasoline station here Quicktrip usually underrates they're octane rating, as I have found with my octane rating estimator, from my old car I used to tune(in my avatar).
Fuel here had issues for a while with Mobil and Shell. Apparently they were watering down the fuel, many car owners just stopped on freeways. I think this happened around 1999 though. Nice Machines Evotistical
They are still selling watered down fuel. UOTE=HEX1GON;638681]Fuel here had issues for a while with Mobil and Shell. Apparently they were watering down the fuel, many car owners just stopped on freeways. I think this happened around 1999 though. Nice Machines Evotistical [/QUOTE]
Nothing, as they were crashed (other road users fault) or stolen (robbing cunts FFS took 3 of them...) I'd love to get another motorcycle but I'd first need to get my licence back! I am eligible to reapply, I just haven't got around to it as I can't afford to get back on the road even if I wanted to at the moment, but if I did sort myself out a Yamaha VMAX would be up there on the top of my to do list!
Currently driving a Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 16v Auto that my parents gave to me when I was struggling with money. Not exactly a chick magnet though so will hopefully be picking up one of these soon when I get the cash and find a decent one that hasn't been modded to hell and back:
