What do hit and run victims think of games where you get to run over people?

I was just watching the trailer for The Crew and during the beach scene I couldn't help thinking that for someone who got hit by some douchbag in a sports car that game must trigger a lot of bad memories.

Then I got to think about GTA and how you actually get to run over the people unlike The Crew where you only get "that" close, like in Crazy Taxi.

I never actually got to think about this, but then again I was never in a car accident.

    What about you guys?

I'm sure there will be some people going crazy over it, simply because you "almost hit them". The game looks good though, a lot better than the racing games shown.

One thing I've always thought about was how young Japanese & German gamers felt about killing their grandfathers in WW2 games, like Call of Duty (1-3).

well, no-one is ignorant to what GTA is and always has been these days. it's not sneaking up behind people and jumping out specifically to offend or hurt them. if they're playing it they chose to pick it up and play it knowing full well the content of the game.

personally i think them games where you can't actually run people over are annoying.

there's always going to be something that some people feel sensitive about.

i mean think of all the poor mushrooms and tortoise mario abused and all them dots and ghosts pac man eat.

What do industrialists think about Sonic the Hedgehog?

What do pretentious neoclassicist philosophers think about God of War and Kid Icarus?

What do ichthyophibics think about Sega Bass Fishing?!

If they don't like it, Too bad. If it causes something worse like giving them flashbacks then they should ignore it and seek help but still too bad.

If a developer were to try to appease every group with a cause then they would end up with a piece of crap that resembled nothing of their original intent. Groups bitching about something is almost always best ignored especially since those doing the bitching usually are not the target audience anyways.

I was speaking in the context of games and in that regard they should be. The whole "Racism" in Resident Evil 5 is a good example of this.

I have been a hit and run victim, sustained minor injuries luckily, but I still went over the hood and off the side of the car.

Every time I play a game like GTA I mow people down in herds. It's a fucking game. Get over it.

If you think RE5 was racist then you don't know what racism is.

I also was in a hit and run. But games like GTA don't bother me at all.

RE5 had black people turn into spear chucking stereotypes because of a "tribal gene". Most people just make the argument "WHY WULD SHOTING BLACK PPL IN AFRICA BE RACIST EYERYONES BLACK THERE" while ignoring that part.

    There's also this: [IMG]

I also was hit by a car when I was a kid by a red light runner(I was riding my bike accross a crosswalk). I remember rolling over the car, and my head bounced on the pavement. Then I woke up mid run from the paramedics(wierd huh). I blacked out again and woke up in the hospital. I didn't suffer any brain damage. It sucked, but it was just a fact of life. People make mistakes. My parents didn't sue. I'm not afraid of cars, and I love GTA III. I think flashbacks are when a whole level of fuckedup-ness has been reached, such as rape, murder, war or major family brakeups. I do know from the insurance report, that my bicycle/body totaled a Lotus Esprit(expensive exotic sports car). Which makes it about even. I didn't have the capacity to be pissed off because all the damage I had was a scraped knee, and a knot on my head. I got far worse from my favorite hobbies at the time: tree climbing, dirt biking, rock and bb gun wars, and fighting for fun.

Ever since I tried shooting that stupid dog in Duck Hunt I have longed for a little collateral damage and "innocent bystanders" in video games. RE5 really pegged my rage meter when Sheva would constantly shot block my fucking rocket launcher whenever possible and then go ammo crazy trying to shoot through me.

A drunk driver drove over the curb in an apartment complex and hit me while I was standing in the grass talking to my friends. I sustained no damage whereas the driver lost the passenger side mirror. Several years later, some other friends and I staged an accident in front of a Wal Mart. My buddy's girlfriend was supposed to clip me while moving at idle speed as I was crossing the parking lot. Instead my buddy secretly took the wheel and floored the accelerator so I ended up taking a real hit and rolling across the hood. Years later, I still find appreciation for the freedom to mow down pedestrians in a video game so much in fact that when I play Crazy Taxi I try to work around the "near miss" by making the people jump in to walls or in front of other traffic.

prehaps my non seriousness and sarcasm didnt convey pretty well in the last few posts :)

i've not actually played resident evil yet but it cant be any more racist than the zelda games full of nazi symbolism and white supremacist propaganda.
