Last time, there was an almost complete power cut in Denmark, then it was a Swedish fuckup, that cut all the power to Denmark. And the weird thing is, in Denmark we do have power plants, but we borrow power anyway from Sweden, and Germany. So I am not really accusing Swedes, or Germans. I am in reality accusing the Danes And it sucked major using the fireescape, as a way of transportation for all. Heck, when I tried to phone my father, there I could hear his voice, but he couldn´t hear mine. But he knew it was me, and well almost everything went strange that day. So that is how much it sucked, but thank goodnes, it didn´t last all day.
We had one a few days ago, for about 3 minutes, but it sucked casue it was like 10pm, so dark, and I was cutting some cheese for a sandwich, and when the lights went off i slipped and cut my finger Tis still not healed.
The Swedes don´t want us, the Danes can´t have us, that is why we are Scanians. You have probably heard that proverb before. In the Scania Danish dialect. and nothing is better than seeing a Red flag, with a yellow cross through it ;-) :110: Men ta det lugnt och bra det I am only teasing you too, with a little spite in it, since we both know too much about the history of that area. And no Scanians aren´t great torches, if you know what I am talking about what the Swedes did to the Scanians , because they were too Danish for the Swedish liking. So, the joke is not really a joke. But live and let live
I don't have to change my lifestile very much since I have solar panels and a wind turbine (which I made myself) on the roof of my apartment. Normaly, they are just there for suplemental power, but when the grid goes down, those babies are the envy of the block!
I was at my work experience when they cut all power to the city centre, i got to leave work 5 hours early lol
I personally have a lot of DS games I haven't played yet, so thats probably high on my list. Failing that, I have a UPS what has provided me a good hour or so of console gaming in a black-out. Oh, and if its not too bad outside I'll BBQ some chicken.
You shouldnt be too happy - psp does have batteries, which I presume you have lots. But batteries + water dont couple that good
Going further (so to speak), way back in 1973, there was a period of rolling power cuts/shortages in the UK - which were reportedly followed by a mini baby boom shortly thereafter... ;-) How would you have survived in the days before the interwebs?
When my grandfather passed away, the only thing I asked for was his portable radio. It's great. A couple of AA batteries can run that sucker for 2 or 3 months and the station holding is great despite it being a cheap old 1980's Sony job. So, I'd switch the radio on (usually Radio 4), grab a couple of candles and if the kids are up I'd be telling them ghost stories to freak them out. If not I'd just sit with the wife on the futon in the conservatory and watch the stars through the glass roof. Despite living in the middle of the city we are in a quiet little spot surrounded by trees and the park across the wall. Nice!
I'll burn people next to me to keep warm, and use my 1000 hamster army to generate 1Gw/hour of energy! enough to power the 20 halogen lamps I need to play my fucking launch GBA in the dark!:lol: So anyway, if I get a PSP I could burn the hamsters instead of humans to keep warm, but then Peta would be all over me:-lol: BTW, who wants to be my new roommate?
Funny how this topic comes up when just today on a clear blue sky sunny day our power went out for no reason. I was sitting here at the PC and all a sudden I hear some noises I don't pay much attension to because a bunch of errors messages pop up saying I lost connection to the internet. A second later my UPS starts beeping at me. At first I was hoping it was just going to be off for a second but it wasn't so I shut down the PC. The last time we lost power was last summer. It was out for over an entire week. We lost the entire fridge and deep freeze's stock of food. It was 100 degrees every day. It sucked total ass. Anyway, at first in a power outage I play the Nintendo DS and GBASP since they hold a charge well and play along time. If possible I'll play the PSP but it doesn't hold a charge near as well and battery life blows. But it can emulate SNES! If the power cut lasts along time, like it did last summer, I leave and go to someone else's house that has power. Recharge my batterys for my portable devices and such and come home later hoping the power is back on. Looting was a possibility last time though! I mean after 4 days of no electricity, no air conditioning, 100+ degree how humid sunny days, you're bored and uncomfortable and angry!
You think thats bad? try coming home back from the lamest vacations ever just to see that there was a powercut when you were out and the fridge got disconnected during most of the summer, so your entire reserve of food is now a mountain of putrid shit full of flies and maggots:-crying: Anyway, it seems theres a lot of problems with power where you live, why dont you get a generator? at least to power your fridge and PC (a more powerfull one could also power a SatTv and a small A/C)
