CGI Well whatever it is it's computer rendered, that's the point of the post, showing what some piece of hardware and software set is out there doing. ~Krelian
That was very impressive until the teeth came on. You could see them floting behind the lips before she opened her mouth. Still, very impressive as long as it's a regular system that anyone can buy and not some CG workstation that movie studios use. Yakumo
Benching Well you can model ANYTHING on pretty much ANY platform, you just have to wait forever for it to render/compile. What would aim to impress is if that was in REALTIME. Example: I can encode a DVD rip into DivX on my Athlon 1.3GHz just fine, but I might as well leave it over-night cause it takes so long. That same DVD rip can be done on my Athlon64 in the time it takes me to eat lunch. But they do look the same when they're done. ~Krelian
Re: Benching even if you have a 3.6 you need to atleast spend 10hr+ if you want a good quality mpeg4 , filters, atleast 2 passes, manual ivtc , etc :-D
Astoundingly good, I have to agree the smile and teeth kind of spoil the illusion, but otherwise, very very nice! Apparently it's an animated short film, if you follow the links in the site, you get to see more photo's and clips of it. The clip from the first post is better than the other 2 available though. THIS image shows just how good the rendering is. I used to do 3D graphics at college, so I can appreciate how good this is.
Woah! just saw that image that tachikoma linked , that's pretty good! matrix reloaded and revolution fx look like shit compared to this (and its still not so bad) (well, that's true that reloaded and revolution use real time 3d. anyway, i can't make that movie work.... with wich program it should work anyway? edit: i just saw other photos ...and i must say that its not as good as the matrix 3d effects, ibut its still very good.... i just can't stand the uglyness of the theets
It is a standard divx clip. It was a test for a film he did, IMO it is better than the film, but the film is still good. The guy works in the video game industry, used to wore for Team17 and Core Design. Yup, he animated Worms, and probably worked on Tomb Raider. He now works for Circle Studio, a new company seemingly made up of ex-Core employees. Check out an interview with the guy by clicking here
