I can use the XBOX Bear claw no problem But there's just something combersome about the Wii U Pad. There's really no reason for it to be that large. I'm not really a fan of Analog sticks being above the face buttons either.

If the NX isn't the Wii U replacement Nintendo is claiming maybe they'll do a redesign...I doubt it. I kind of want a Wii U.

A lot of folks like to call the Wii U game pad a gimmick, but the technical achievement of building a console that maintains its own access point and does it's own low latency video streaming is rather incredible. You could argue Sony has that with the Vita too, but it doesn't even come close to being as usable as the game pad in reality.

Personally I WANT more second screen and touch screen based functionality with the NX. It's an interesting direction for today's tablet and smart phone based world. It wasn't a gimmick at all - it was ahead of the times, suffered from nearly non-existent marketing, and poor underlying hardware support. Heck the original Microsoft surface was released only a month before the Wii U came out. If that's not Nintendo correctly picking up on trends, I don't know what is.

That and there's little to differentiate XB1 and PS4 from high end PCs any more. To succeed with the NX they need to have adequate power, but they also need to be very different from what's currently on the market.

Honestly I liked a lot of things Nintendo did with the Wii U. Not having to install games meant that my 500GB XB1 fills up quicker than my 32GB Wii U does (though the free Games with Gold helps that too).

I wish they'd made a couple improvements to the Gamepad though. A high resolution display on it would be nice (it feels weird when both are displaying the same thing and I go from my 1080p TV to the Gamepad), plus an option to turn off the screen for games that simply mirror the TV would help battery life (I know some games do that, but across the board), and the connection needs to be stronger. Other than that I really like the Gamepad.

And give it a 2DS adapter, a la the Super Game Boy or Game Boy Player.

what about the gamcube controller? That controller in my opinion is pretty standard and very comfortable.

Took me a while to like the Game Cube controller and now it is one of my favorites and I wouldn't mind seeing some kind of evolution of the controller on the NX. If apps like Pokemon GO is any indication on what the NX will be like then a new power glove with a VR set like Samsung has would be pretty sweet. Exercise something other than the thumbs.

The Gamecube controller is only good for certain kinds of games. Good luck playing CVS2 EO on that thing.

First off, whitewash away the Wii. Its name recognition is long since shot. Better known now for clunky casual games, support cut off early, bad battery life, and all.

The Wii U is a good console, but because of some trend, it didn't sell much. People see as inferior things like the 8 and 32GB options. Nintendo should realize people today know about that, some phones have more memory than that.
Two controllers from the start would have helped. It's funny how people don't seem to care of something so good as using the same Wii controllers that were available for years. But the limitation of playing with a Wiimote while other person play with the touch pad seems to have more weight in people's minds.

A new online functionality like was said should help too with the "inferiority" some people perceive when comparing with Xbox or PS.
Why so much negativity really? Even the Wii being remembered by most as the casual and simple gaming, it gave enough profits for them. But yeah, they should avoid that type of success for a while imo. That was an exception, good exception financially for them, but it's unlikely it will catch on again.
I fear that the pushing towards mobile can hurt them more than benefit. It seems a risky trend that could change the company forever.

Most rumors suggest it's X86 based like every other thing on the market right now

Nintendo to do more have support from 3rd party devs. There was only 2 games I even cared about on my Wii U. The Wii U was just another disappointment by nintendo and I definitely shouldn't have preordered the Wii U.

Ubi Soft is supporting, WB Games is supporting, Capcom, Square Enix, Namco, I'm sure Sega has a shitty Sonic game in the works. The NX should be well supported at first.

If it's portable, x86 might be overkill.
