Ok well this post of mine is mostly a rant, maybe someone will find it amusing : You guys are renaming it? I like sd2SNES name it is fine and great. But a tongue twister almost? nah it flows perfectly fine for me and I enjoy the ease of searching for it on google and youtube with that name. But I wonder what I would call it if it didn't have a name. Maybe you need to look at it from that perspective. I'm a huge wildcard fan so I'd call it Super Wildcard Pro maybe. But many will think that is generic since FFE didn't have anything to do with this product. And how did CCL ever come up with Pro Fighter what is it fighting? copy protection? lockout chip? or Smart Bros. Who are the smart bros? A couple of Taiwanese guys that got together and made a backup device or is it Mario and Luigi with a degree? Hmm.. How about the Gamars. What the heck is that? Gamers with the last "e" replaced in the name? Super UFO Hmm... it doesn't fly though. What about the Game Doctor Professor SF series. Is running games on a cartridge emulator medical now? But anyway at least the Chinese were being creative. Now you realize too that the Wildcard name was originally a product developed so you could duplicate copy protected floppy disks for Apple ][ systems. It was an add in card or maybe they called it a daughter board. So then FFE took the name and added Super and eventually put DX and DX2 at the end later on (I think because DX stands for deluxe and that other products in the 1990s used these designations as well). So to say if it is good or bad to "steal" the name it doesn't matter because it isn't copywrighted for this type of device anyway. Remember the Wildcard64? The most rare N64 backup device and often confused with the Z64 since some people regarded the quality of the Z64 on par with the high quality that FFE put out. But it wasn't made by FFE (as far as I know anyway). Actually who knows what FFE does now, probably still more low grade video game tech stuff on their web site. But I did read and research on the web that Bung supposedly doesn't do gaming at all any more and instead does e-cigarettes. And why wouldn't that make sense? Video games are addictive and so is nicotine. So anyways a name.. sd2snes or Super Enhancement Deluxe Coprocessor Interface. Too technical. I'll stick with sd2snes, great name and great device. Now as for that new UFO Pro 8 hmm... that one needs a bit more work and catching up to do with the sd2snes and plus should have been named UFO Pro 9 unless I'm assuming that the GUI is the same as in the Pro 8 floppy version. At least we don't need to worry if the sd2snes is an unidentified flying object or anything so I think its current name is sufficient.
When this thread was made there was never any consideration of changing the name. This thread was a complete fluke. It's ikari's project and he'll call it what he wants.
