What files can a Wii play?

    Just a heads up to let you know that the Wii can play mov files. I never knew this until tonight when I put a SD card from my camera in to it. To my surprise all the videos run fine on the Wii.

    Are there any other files that the Wii runs apart from JPG, MOV and MP3?

    Dont upgrade the Photo Channel if you want the MP3s to still work ;)

    Even if you upgrade you can delete it from your channel folders in the system menu & it reverts back to the old version as i tested it out the other day.

    Too bad it doesn't support divx/xvid because it could make one hell of a small low power mediacenter if it could run regular movie formats from say an external usb2.0 drive.

    Well, mov files has gotten better resolutions and so forth. And some films has been released in mov format, but yeah I know it is pirate related. But well it was just a thought. Sorry to interrupt.

    considering how hacked the wii has become, support for external USB devices is a viable option, but nintendo as usual don't like to go with what people really want =p
