So far I've tried most emulators and with the exception of PS2 and Wii games, most emulators work pretty well in my desktop computer (Pentium Dual-Core E5400 @2.7 GHz, 2GB DDR2 RAM and a 1GB Geforce 240GT). My laptop (Core i3 330M @2.1GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM and Intel HD Graphics) runs some emulators at better speeds since it has a better processor, but having integrated graphics it's not too good with GC/Wii/PS2 emulation. Besides that, I play lots of GBA and Megadrive games with my Nokia N95, most games run great there and using the D-pad and the media player keys it's really comfortable to play with.
Really? CCS64 works perfectly for me, and you don't even have to wait 15 minutes for the games to load
No wait times? But that's the WHOLE charm of the C64!;-) Seriously, though, I've tried like 5 different emulators and they never, ever work. The one on the Wii does work, but with like... three different roms. I'm just trying to get the games I used to have as a kid, and it's awesome when I finally see some of them again. Man, I loved that machine.
Well on my Mac I have Mame OS X (0.124, the latest release breaks Neo Geo Support). I can get some pretty decent games running with it. PCSX-Reloaded works pretty well for PSX games but compatibility is hit or miss. Kega Fusion is an awesome for MD, MS, MCD, 32X and GG. I use ZNES for SNES games, and well that's about it. I'd love it if there was a decent Saturn emulator for Mac but I've yet to find one.
I know you were kidding, but it kinda is...it doesn't feel the same if you're not waiting at least 10 minutes for a game to load. Plus, there's usually awesome music too.
Hoxs64 is cycle-accurate apparently, I imagine it'll require a reasonably modern CPU to get full speed though.
Ah, intro scene tunes... How I miss those. Heck, I'd pirate current generation machines if there were intro scene tunes and trainers. (Not really - but someone should make an album of intro tunes and torrent it) Last I saw them, Echelon had an AWESOME tune for some Dreamcast trainers. EDIT: And I mean this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CD5XRR-xGY&playnext=1&list=PLAF9392AF2ADE2E07&index=46
Official C64 games had good loader music too, I remember playing the crappy port of Rampage just because I liked the loading music so much. I once found a site where you could get the music from intros like that (although they may have been from PC keygens or something), wish I remembered what it was...
Just do a search for demoscene music and follow some links. You'll be looking for .xm and .mod files, which are tiny (or they wouldn't be any good as intros) but will need a foobar or Winamp plugin.
Yeah, I already found a big database of C64 crack intros. It was way easier than expected. http://www.intros.c64.org/
Strange, VICE and CCS64 even worked perfectly on my lappy 10 years back. You still can choose the original loading speed, if you prefere that
Well while are at at intros and what not. Then let me dish out some goodies for you in that direction. Cracktros: The Best - The utltimate Amiga cracktros page! http://www.cracktros.org/ docsnyderspage (old intros in remade in flash and sound) http://www.docsnyderspage.de/ pouet.net :: your online demoscene resource (LOADS and utter LOADS of intros and what not) http://www.pouet.net/ scene.org - news (news about the scene) http://www.scene.org/ Dead Hackers Society http://dhs.nu/ and here is a wildcard of that commodore 8bit computer website http://www.cbm8bit.com/ I have already mentioned that site in this thread http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1043 But thanks for giving me an updated link.
These days I do most of my emulation on PSP (except N64 cause it's still not perfect) I can't put into words how I felt the first time I got a SonicCD running perfectly on a portable. Back in the 16bit heyday that was what I hoped the future would be like:thumbsup: Now Dreamcast and the others, there still plenty of those around so why emulate them when you can play with the real thing? Is like using a blowup doll when you're married to Scarlett Johanson:033:
