well, there's a comercial pre-release that could be found in new york a week before the official release, if i remember right. And there's this 20th anniversary sonic adventure 2 Deluxe Package. Other than that, i don't know what you could mean by sonic adventure limited edition. No difference in the software.
It's basically the Japanese version of Sonic Adventure with English voices. You could rent it from Hollywood Video before the Dreamcast's official release here.
Sonic Adventure Limited Edition was also never officially sold. All copies were supposed to be returned to Sega along with the pre-release Dreamcasts. -hl718
That's not Sonic Adventure Limited Edition but Sonic Adventure International. I own a copy my self. It was released in Japan shortly after the original release. Yakumo
Actually, he's correct. It went like this: SA (JPN) = Original SA SA:LE (US) = Quick localization with voice acting being the primary change. Promotional ad info on box. Rental only. SA (US) = Retail US release. Slightly upgraded from the JPN release, with a few bug fixes. SA:I (JPN) = Updated JPN release based on the US retail release. -hl718
so the 2nd Japanese one is based on the US Limited Edition which is what the US Retail one was based upon? Yakumo
Sonic Adventure: Limited Edtion is also slighty crippled. I remember not being able to access any internet features on my copy (unless it had to be unlocked in this one?).
I thought I remember seeing "Special Edition/Limited Edition" being slapped on my copy (it may have been a sticker). There is "Not for resale" text on it somewhere as well. It came with a demo for Sonic Adventure 2, which had Japanese voices for the characters. Which release is this?
There was also a "Special Edition" released for the pre-release Kiosk DC's. People were buying up the Kiosks during the dying days of Dreamcast just so they could get this special edition Sonic Adventure game.
The 2nd Japanese release is based on the US retail release which is an upgraded version of the US Limited Edition (pre-release rental only version) which is based on the original Japanese release. -hl718
What is this version that I have then? I was told it is a E3 version, region free and you can select any level from the title screen. Can anyone confirm any of this as it is still sealed & I dont plan on opening it as Wombat is buying it!
Then what the heck is the white label edition? Is it a pre-release version, with slightly altered levels from the retail version, or is it the same as the retail? Does anyone have any of these White Label, or Limited Edition and willing to post screenshots of the differences from the retail? Apparently, Google is not being my friend.
Oh, I just remembered that the Limited Edition version actually says "Limited Edition" on the title screen in game. A minor change, but it's something. :-/
