To me that seems unlikely as for a copy it's suspiciously well made. I'm not saying you're wrong, just giving my opinion.
There are apparently NES clones that look exactly like that (right down to the branding) but they wouldn't have the edge connector.
Doesn't the sticker on the front of the box say "CEE OFFICIAL SEGA"? In French and Italian CEE stands for EEC (European Economic Community - before the EU that is). Why would Sega sell this box in Asia, with all those European languages at the back?
The european logo is more like this one: It's a seal which certify the conpliance with Community's rules.
Final proof of what it is! Asian MK-1631-07. The Australia Model number MK-1631-50 same as the European and New Zealand, not the same as these Asian MK-1631-07 models.
That logo is from 1993, the console can be older - the CEE on the sticker must mean something anyway right. @Icarus: the bottom of your console is different from his, seems like his' is missing the big sticker on the right? Maybe they took it off and sold it in Australia. The Chinese comment suggests it was sold in Australia. Quite messy.
This is not Asian version MD Because Asian version can play the YuYu Hakusho(J) But,my megadrive can't
Pal asia version can't play some ntsc (J) game. I think your MD2 is asia version. The code 'SEGA PC BD MD2 VA0 ASIA' is exactly identical to my md2 that sell in Thailand (but the box is not the same as yours).
It's an Asian Megadrive. I also owned one, came from Thailand. Here are some pictures of the mainboard: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23933 It had the crappiest video output I've ever seen on a console... Probably because of no RF shielding.
