Everything here can be easily modded other then the 360. So unless there's some japanese 360 games you're dying to play, why not get a japan only system? I'd recommend the wonderswan.
I importa lot on my Dreamcast ans with a Gameshark it's pointless to buy a Japanese system. I'd say a Gamecube as even PS2 can use a Boot disc
If your getting a Japanese PS2 i highly recommend getting the slim model so that way if you had bought a phat original model you would had to install a flip top case for it so you could use Swapmagic with it
If he's getting a Japanese system he wouldn't have to use swapmagic, because OP wants to play Japanese games on a Japanese system. And we all know the SCPH-50000 series PS2 is better than the SCPH-70000 series PS2. Haven't tried the 90000, but I want to.
Well hey we can't win em all, right I've got a 55000 and all discs start right up. The KHS-400C is a really reliable laser from what I've seen, so much more than the KHS-400B in the 30000 models. Probably done 15 or more adjustments on the KHS-400B lasers, and only a couple KHS-400C lasers. Plus, the 70000 models had a pretty cheap case design me thinks.
I wanna get a PSX model someday (even though i can get it anytime ) that way i can put many Japanese exclusive PS2 games on it plus the HDD that comes with it is up too about 400GB or 160GB i believe
i would love a PSX but they're ticking time bombs, idk WTF sony was thinking making it so you need their shitty HD to even run the damn thing. should have been regular HD with data encrypted so if there was a need for a new HD you use a disk that just formats it and loads XMB and all the associated files. sorry for going of topic, btw if i had my way, i'd tell him to buy a PC engine lol
You cant put PS2 games on the HDD of a PSX just in case you didn't know. Plus the HDD models are 250 GB in the DESR-7000 models and 160 GB in the DESR-5000 models. I've got one for sale right now, and it's amazing that it actually works fully. Most out there are broken in some way, and are probably going to remain that way for the rest of their life span. You have to give Sony credit for making it though. Japanese PS2 is a much more sensible option, but if you're a collector, the PSX is definitely awesome.
