    Hi,
I have just finished modding my GameCube (XenoGC v2.0 & Custom paint job) and wanted to invest in some good quality (known-to-work) MINI DVD-R Media (8cm discs)

Does anyone here know what/where to buy? I'm in the UK

I have some RiData discs from years ago that work perfectly in the cube, but you can't buy them easily anymore, and i cannot seem to find new Mini DVD-R's that don't have Disc Read Errors! I have also tested full size DVD's by removing the lid and they also work fine, so it's not my burning method.

I don't really want to buy a custom lid so i can use full sized discs....

Did you adjust the drive pot? Apparently you are supposed to adjust the laser to make it read burnt media more easily. Although I don't have a chipped gamecube myself, I just followed one of the pot tweaking guides designed for modded consoles on a gamecube which refused to read any discs at all, adjusted it to 200ohms down from 400 and now it reads everything like a charm

custom lids work out cheaper than buying mini dvdr's anyway. full size dvdr are much much cheaper

Hi, I have a pal gamecube model dol-001. I use tdk x2 mini-dvdrs manufacturer id CMC MAG. AF1 without any laser pot tweak and they work perfectly. So far at least.

That doesnt mean much. The consoles vary A LOT.

one will read anything, another will need tweaking and another wont read them at all even after tweaking.

    Yeah, this
And if he can't find any cheap brands which work I'm gonna guess he will have tried some CMC discs before as they are pretty common.

If you don't want to save yourself the money by buying a full size dvd case (even though kiff is selling them for like £11 posted to the uk) then the easiest way is going to be the simple pot adjustment. To be fair even with the extended case it's not a dead cert that the full sized dvds will work any better without adjustment.

I have already adjusted the pot and it reads my older RiData mini DVDs fine, just can't buy them anymore. Where did those TDK and Verbatim discs come from?

    Thing is - 3 discs = £4

You can get a replacement top case for £11 from kiff.

100 tayio yuden discs will cost you like £20 or so and likely work well.

If you have more than like 10 "backups" the full size route makes more sense imo.

When I started this project a few weeks ago, the replacement cases were nowhere to be seen, so I spent cash on paint and wet & dry and invested a lot of time customising it. It looks fantastic and it's finished, so I don't want to mess around with it anymore. Besides, I only want to burn 8 or 9 discs, so mini DVDs are fine, I just wanted some that dont completely suck. Thanks to everyone who suggested something, I'll give them a go.....
