Similar to repair thread, this one is for modding. What have you done?

    I have done:
Atari 2600 AV (using Longhorn style board)
    TG-16 region switch
Saturn S-Video and composite port (could never find that video cable when I needed it)
DC power LED (was missing the original LED when I got a DC in pieces)
X'Eye S-video (on hold, having trouble getting *working* caps seller is an idiot)
Gameboy backlight (green fat Gameboy with green LED, may do my fat black one with purple LED later)
Atari Lynx to PSX controller adapter (on hold waiting for board and for VGA adapter board too)
    PSOne 101 MMX3 mod
    NES CiC disable (snipped pin)
SNES Jr S-Video and RGB support (technically a mod since it needed wires, caps, and resistors to make it work)
PCE multi-video out (original RF only model, removed RF and added multi-video from dead SNES to get composite, S-Video, and RGB, needs touch up to hide ugly hole)
Intellivision controller adapter (in progress, waiting for board from PCB fab, see thread http://atariage.com/forums/topic/21...ntroller-to-use-on-intellivision-for-about-5/ for more on my progress)

    Future project:
Intellivision video (Atariage forum has something about trying to come up with VGA, RGB, and/or S-Video support)
PS2 mod (have the chip, needs to get started someday)
Ten No Koe 2 mod to replace batteries with a large cap, no more replacing it. It's going to be used with PCE I have. However the existing circuit doesn't allow charging so I need to figure it out and change it to allow cap to be charged while it's powered.

    Hmm...

The first mod I probably ever did was I removed the cartridge lock tab on an old DMG-001 gameboy so I could use a gameshark on it. I didn't just snap it off, but I opened it up and removed it and cleaned up the switch so it looked nice.

    Otherwise...

    GBA - Afterburner kit
DS Lite - Modded firmware to remove the health warning screen
    PSP - Softmodded (5.00 M33-6)
NES - Replaced red LED with UV LED
SFC - Replaced red LED with UV LED, added s-video port
N64 - Replaced red LED with UV LED, RGB modded, added s-video and audio ports
Wii - Soft modded, Talismoon Whisper fan, modified disc slot LEDs to stay lit
C64 - JiffyDOS, socketed a few chips that needed replacing
Xbox - Softmodded, 500GB hard drive, better fan, added USB port; Softmodded one other
Xbox 360 - JTAG/SMC mod, 250GB HDD, replaced GPU heatsink with CPU heatsink, custom acrylic fan shroud, acrylic window, UV LED strips around window, added copper heatsinks to various chips, Talismoon Whisper fan w/ UV LEDs, HDD access LED; JTAG modded a few others; made a 320GB HDD for my Live box
PS2 - DMS4 EZI PRO modchip (before I learned how to solder-- guess I'm pretty lucky I've never had a single problem with it), 120GB hard drive
    PS3 - Softmodded
Game Gear - Master System controller input, GGTV video out board, replaced capacitors
Saturn - Rob Webb modchip (20/21 pin version)
Jaguar - S-video and audio out ports
    7800 - Composite/audio out

I've also installed a older matrix board into a newer transforming 360 controller shell (changed all the plugs from gray to the black ones the controller's original board had) and changed the ring LEDs from green to alternating UV and blue. The newer board revisions can't power the UV LEDs, but the older matrix ones can.

    That's about it, for now...

Only mods I've done myself are very simple ones:

N64 - cut tabs to allow for Japanese games
Saturn - taped tray detect mechanism to allow for the swap trick

Not sure if it counts as a "mod", but I made adapters and cables to use a Sega Model 3 board with a computer monitor and Neo Geo controllers.

APE has done these mods for me:

    N64 - RGB mod
    SNES Jr. - RGB mod
    N64/SNES custom SCART cable

Xbox 360 firmware stuff, PSP modding, Wii modding, ds modding, and I plan on doing some more serious stuff once I can start soldering.

Hrm. I honestly can't remember them all because I've been doing stuff like that for a long time. Here are some though.

    NES: Disabled lockout, cleaned connectors.
SNES: Yoinked the SPC from a dead console to make a hardware decoder, snipped the tabs on US SNES. Awaiting stuff for component out + SuperCIC.
PS1: Dozens of modchip installs, cleaned consoles.
PS2: As above, replaced quite a few laser lens too.
XBOX: Lost count of how many chips I installed, softmodded, HDD upgrades etc.
XB360: JTAGs, reflow/reballs (when I had access to the equip), so many RGHs I could do them with my eyes closed, DVD drive flashing/replacements, soldering 3.5" drive direct to motherboard for huge int HDD.
MD: Overclocked for fun, slot widened.
GC: Region switch on NTSC console, XenoGC in PAL.
    Wii: Drivechips, softmods, drive replacements.
    DC: 4wire modchip.
Sat: Some kind of modchip with a ribbon cable (hazy hazy memory).
NDS: Replaced cart slots, volume sliders, screens. PassMe!
PS3: Changed laser (3 times on my JP launch console), downgraded one with hardware flashing.

I prefer doing mods that can keep the console in stock condition on the outside. If I can't get away with that I'll buy another one to mod so I still have a nice stock one with all the seal stickers and casing in tact.

That's the only reason I have not replied to this thread - it would take far too long and I would likely miss out loads.

Lol as i thought! Living in australia "odd" consoles like tg16, pcengines, 3do and the like are thin on the ground over here so are hard to muck around with....

Just modified my Saturn for JP/US games. No need for Pal, since my tv can't handle those games.

Update: I got the boards, installed parts and wired them in Intellivision. Atari Jaguar controller works with Intellivision. Just needed to correct a few miswired lines, mount the port somewhere, and close the system.
