So the launch of the 3DS store in imminent (sort of). What games of the past would you like to see 3D wizardry applied to? I'm thinking shooters from the Mega Drive and PC Engine days would look good in 3D. The addition of depth to the insane parallax of the MD would be cool. That and Bomberman '94 in 3D. I'd wet my pants.
Super Metroid, Axelay, Thunderforce IV, Yoshi's Island, Super Mario 3, Super Mario World, F-Zero, Starfox, and well, since we're dreaming, Chrono Trigger or FF6 would be quite sexy.
I'm blind in one eye. 3D gaming doesn't work for me. To be clear, I don't mean to complain about it. It's amazing technology and it's wonderful that there's so many competing 3D solutions available at a reasonable, consumer-level cost. But when there's a language-independent color puzzle or twitch clue, like in Rockstar's Table Tennis game, that leaves color-blind gamers on the curb. Likewise, a music puzzle like the one in Super Mario RPG isn't accessible to tone-deaf players. I accept that 3D gaming won't ever include me, and I know that happens without malice or any offensive intent.
Yeah, some old Sega arcade ports would be cool, though that's probably not gonna happen. Virtual Boy ports would be cool as well. Also probably not gonna happen. Somewhat related: I was thinking the other day, the 3DS would be perfect for Dreamcast ports. They have really similar button layouts. They both have one analog stick and a d-pad, 4 face buttons, a start button, and 2 shoulder buttons. The only major difference is that the shoulder buttons were pressure sensitive on the Dreamcast, which doesn't really matter all that much in most games. The bottom screen is also kinda like a VMU, although honestly most DC games didn't do anything useful with the VMU. Shenmue 3D, please? I can dream (cast). Also, in reference to monacleboy: they make "3D" glasses that convert 3D movies into 2D.
I would like to see nothing in 3D. 3D is no good for your eyes. I don't want to see any companies touch the retro games for anything other than porting to newer systems. 2D is where it's at. So what 1D games would you like to see in 2D ?
Power Stone could be awesome in 3D. But only if it could be done without my brain melting or eyes bleeding whilst playing.
Fuck yeah! After Burner, Outrun, Galaxy Force 2, Space Harrier. 7force, your ideas really do rock. I would say Guilty Gear X, but we're getting Blazblue anyway, so it's almost the same thing. I'd say the same about Ace Combat and Metal Gear Solid, which are also coming to 3DS. Maybe Silpheed, R-Type, Gradius, Gungriffon, or Armored Core would be cool on it too.
The 3DS is not something I would buy, cause it is no more than am expensive electronic old flip picture "3D effect", where you have to find the "sweet spot". Also the whole 3D dumb ass fad, is just a fad that is perhaps not dead, it just smells that way. But as I have said before, I can not get the 3D effect because I have an eye Astigmatism, which means the "3D" illusion does dick to me. Cause I can not "see" it. Even though I can perfectly see the 3D graphics and so forth, I just do not get the illusion. Yes of course, I can see the flip picture "sweet spot" effect. But the whole "3D" effect is a joke. Make a holographic screen projector. Then I can see the 3D.
