Theres my laugh for the day :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: Anywho, the TA-081 motherboards can be hacked, they just need to be patched first. My PSP has a TA-081 MB and i was able to flash CFW onto it. There is also a way to identify if you have a TA-081 or not. I dont remember the specifics( i did this like a year and a half ago), but it involves opening the UMD door and looking for something printed on the MB. Ill try to find more specific instructions and if i do ill post them shortly.
I think he got the IDs mixed up. There is a new mb thats not hacked yet due to the new cpu that boost encryption on the ipl. i think its 82v3 or something. I'd have to check to be fully sure.
Hope that helps. Ahh shit youre right, i totally got the ID's mixed up. At any rate, what i posted above should at least help him identify what MB he has.
Thanks for the info Subbie. Getting this info from a PSP programmer is priceless. And don't worry, I'm mostly interested in emulating PS1 without buying all my games all over again.
Always use the lastest version of the firmware, or you'd get save problem if later, you update your PSP : for example, if you play a game made for 5.0 under 3.80 M33 fw, and later you update to 5.0 M33, your saves won't work (you'll have to use savegame deemer to make them work, a bit painful if you have played more than 10 games).
Ahhh, ive never updated past 3.80 m33. I updated from earlier versions, however, and my saves always worked afterwards. Maybe it only happens when going to 5.0?
Maybe, I stayed on 3.80 for a long time, and didn't have any problem either. But I had problem with locoroco 2, and SW : unleashed (some people also had problem with Final Fantasy : Crisis Core when they updated to 4.0)
It looks like ill be sticking wiht 3.80 M33 for a while then:icon_bigg I dont have any games that require newer than that anyways.
the only one question of importance is, which model has the best D-Pad? (-> to finally be able to play all those hunderts great 2D classics without getting mad in the first 10 seconds of playing). honestly, the first model got the very worst d-pad in whole history of all d-pads!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
I remember laughing when I tried to play Street Fighter Alpha 3 on a friend's PSP, it wasn't even borderline playable. I think it's kind of dishonest to release such games for a system that so inherently lacks a decent control method.
I honestly have not found any version of a PSP with a decent D-Pad. You just gotta get used to the piece of crap dpad.
