    Make your decision on the type of console you played the most when you were a kid up until your pre-teens.

    I'm from the 16bit Generation. I played the Genesis about 99% of the time when I was a kid. I loved sonic. However I once in a while played SNES over at my friends house. Ahhhh.. Those were the days.

    I think you should change the list of choices available for voting. I had to choose Nintendo Generation even though I hate the NES. I had a Master System. Shame that it never had as many cool games though.

    May a suggest changing the options to

    Pre 8bit Generation (Atari, Colectovision etc)
    8bit Generation (NES, Master System, Gameboy)
    16bit to 32bit Generation (Mega Drive, SNES, 3DO Jaguar, etc)
    128bit Generation (Saturn, PSX)
    Next Gen (Dreamcast, PS2, Game Cube etc.)

    Oh please. I know some of you guys played the SMS but chances are you wanted an NES or played it and liked it. Basically you grew up around it. Besides, it was coined the Nintendo generation because of Nintendo's 97% market dominance back then. Thats what everyone calls it... in the US at least. I will change the Atari to Pre 8bit Generation. But I won't add the Next Gen cuz, I'm pretty sure none of us here are 8yrs old even though we may behave like them.

    Still I want to keep it as general as I can keep it (grammar sux). I knew someone was going to tell me about that "It shouldn't be called the Nintendo Generation because I played the SMS nyah." Not that I'm hitting on you Yakumo but while I was makin this thread I knew it was gonna come up. I just based my decision on the fact that 3 out of 4 kids in USA owned an NES. The other one had either an SMS or Atari or a banana phone. I will keep it Nintendo generation but put in SMS just for you :smt061

    Excuse my behavior, its late at night. I created this topic late at night. :smt015

    Well, this was a bit of a tough one for me...

    We got our NES in 1989...(In fact, we have that on VHS from the "1989" home movies cassette)...but I was only 4 then...and I guess thats a bit young to be into video games...and well, the NES was essentially dead in North America by the time the 16 bit systems were well established...by 93 or so...so, NES was my first one...

    But we did get a Genesis around 93, but we were still buying NES games at that point, used mostly for about .25 cents apiece...we bought a ton of Gensis games, but it still never held a candle to the NES for me...

    SNES BABY!

    My first console was the SNES in the early 90's. My favorite SNES game is still Top Gear 2 closely followed by Donkey Kong Country. My first time playing an import game was also on the SNES. My friends cousin went to Japan and brought back a copy of Super Street Fighter 2 before we could find it here.

    A bit in between of the atari and nes generation, we had a atari 2600jr when i was like 4 or 5 and my first "own" console was a NES so i'll go with NES generation.

    I got my TurboGrafx when I was about 7. My best friend though had a Genesis, so I started off a 16biter.

    Well I was playing (and hacking) on BBC Micro's as a kid (in school, only got a MS when I was about 10). So what does that make me?

    Well im probably the youngest guy on the board (16) and so from about 10 till 13 the N64 was the only system for me, although my brother and sister (both older) had a SNES and NES before that (one of my earliest memory's was completing super mario bros. one day before i could read the level select cheat at the end. And i was the first in the family to accomplish this!). But anyway, back onto the subject, i think the N64 got the most play out of me, so i voted for that generation.

    Well, the first videogames i played were an Atari 2600 my brother had and a Odissey from a friend.

    The fist videogame system i got was a Master System, while my brother got an MSX.

    i'm lost between two generations.
    i got my nes (my first console ) when the 16 bit era was installed (new) i played my nes all the time and had no personal snes and genesis until 2001-2003! but i played 16 bits games at my friend house alot , somes friends gived me their genesis or super nintendo for a month or so and i fall inlove with 16 bit, ut my parents said that ihad a nintendo already , and that was enough ( now i have 14 consoles if you don't count the doubles and tripples :smt043 )

    i was really sad, i could see any 8-bit new games in store, and i couldn't get 16 bit. i had to do fleamarket and garages sales to have games . yes , iplayed a lot in 16 bit and 8 bit . 16 bit is my favorite era , but my favorite consoles is the nes. i grow with ff 1 ( one of the first nintendo btw) and ff3 , sonic and mario , dragon warrior and zelda.

    i've voted nes, because its the only real console i had (the next console i had after the nes was the playstation in 1998! ) i started to play video games in the begin \ middle of 16 bit era.

    ahh....the old days.

    I have the same problem as Yakumo!

    I was raised on a healthy Diet of the Sega Mastersystem!
    A machine which I loved to bits, had a nice collection for, and holds some very fond memories.. for both me and my parents who played the games!

    (My mum finished Phantasy Star and YS!) and did it again not long ago on a Emulator!

    Then Along came the Megadrive (imported Jap machine) which again got played for years on end.. Imported Super Famicom then came along.. but still had my MD to play on too.

    So I have selceted 16bit.. even thought I started on the Master System.. The MD took a LOT of my time! as did my Super Famicom! which eventually stole ALL of my spare time. :smt023

    They were the days.... sniff.

    come on yak, we all know you know better

    32bit == saturn , 3do, 32x, psx

    32/64 == jaguar

    64 == N64, (M2)

    128 == nextgen == DC, PS2, XBOX, GC

    pardon my nitpicking, just trying to hold you to your usual standard of excellence

    -ab , atari generation but too late for pong consoles

    This one was hard. My first console was the NES, but i was really young when we got it, and i could not fully enjoy it before we got an SNES, so most of my time went into the SNES, so i would say the 16-bit generation for me.
