NES. Super Mario Games, no Zelda but Solstice. Never found how to enter the sewers in TMNT so spent months on the first screen...
My first sytem was a Univox system. But the first one I got for my own was a Red gameboy pocket, with the camera and the printer
Mine was a Sega Genesis with Sonic 2. My sisters both wanted a SuperNes instead, but my parents figured that I was going to play more than they would so they got the console that I wanted.
First I had was the Fairchild Channel F. I have two now, one I repaired that functions just fine now and one that's still throwing me for a loop. Most people don't know about it but it has a nice little spot in gaming history. But first system I bought on my own was the NES and I was in my 20's while stationed in England.
I used to play 2600 and NES as a small child and then growing up my brother and I always split console purchases (Genesis, Xbox, ps2, 360, etc) so I think the first console I ever actually bought with my own money would be an xbone one/ps4 (I bought them at the same time).
Sega Dreamcast. I had a PSOne that was a 'shared' Christmas gift, but Dreamcast was the first system I owned all to my own. Otherwise, I started on as many arcade games I could sneak off to and hand-me-downs - 2600/7800, NES, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear... and Pong. EDIT: I just remembered that I was very close to having a Sega Saturn be my first console sometime in 1999/2000 back when FuncoLand was clearing everything out and systems could be had for cheap ($30, IIRC). Apparently, I was just a little too late. They dropped their inventory fast. Anything worthwhile sold out quick. (Somewhere 9-10 years later, I finally got a Saturn.)
Mine was an Atari 2600 Jr, although I almost never played with it, having an Amstrad CPC 6128 at home. The machine I consider my first true console is the Sega Mega Drive.
The first console I ever owned was a NES. My neighbours kid was not doing homework and just played videogames all day and they offered it to my mom for free. It even came with 2 controllers. My mom was skeptical and my older brother convinced her to take it. From there my love of video games exploded and has never stopped. It's a way of life
Well although this is not a console, I started out on 386/486 DOS simulators in the early 90's. Than progressed to using a NES console.
My first console was a Sega Genesis, shortly after they switched the pack in game from Altered Beast to Sonic.
My first Video game that connected to the TV was a Coleco PONG, then it was the Sears Teligames <sp> Atari 2600, I have both around here somewhere. =hugh
