For me, it would have to be S.T.A.L.K.E.R. No other game has sucked me in quite like that one. The atmosphere was perfect, the difficulty was top notch, there were times I had to just back away from my keyboard for a second, take a breath, and remind myself it was just a game. Even with all its quirks, I felt it was a perfect gaming experience. And because the two games that came after the original (Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat) were more like expansions on the original rather than true sequels, I consider them all "one game". The last playthrough I did (I've done multiple, haha), I played them in chronological order (Clear Sky, then Shadow of Chernobyl, and finally Call of Pripyat) and called it "The Trifecta of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.", and that was an amazing gaming experience I'll never forget. Anyway, that's my personal all time fave
Thanks for sharing about STALKER. Single-player FPS is one of my favorite genres. Also glad to see it's PC-only. I'm old school, and that's where FPS games belong, with a keyboard and mouse, haha! (Probably just old.) I remember while I enjoyed Half-Life and (to a lesser extent) Halo, the single-player campaign didn't completely engross me like other games. Chronicles of Riddick and Aliens vs Predator 2 really drew me in. Even No One Lives Forever was more engrossing for me. Will have to add STALKER to my list, thanks.
I just turned on Yellow again for the first time in what seems like ages (thankfully the battery didn't conk out) and I've put 120 hours into it. And I beat Red and Blue as well. Those were the days, honestly.
I just have a top 5. In No particular order Guilty Gear XX #Reload Mega Man 2 Sonic 2 Streets of Rage 2 Xenogears
I play through the original games quite a lot, kinda never grew out of it tbh. I've had a right blast with Pokemon X and Y as well, not really been into the newer games, but these are fantastic.
For me, it's Terranigma on the SNES. It was the first game I ever played which utterly absorbed me. The graphics were astounding, the music was epic, and the story was just engrossing. It was the first game which made me cry at the end, partly because the ending was beautiful, but also because I was sad it was over. I encourage everyone to give it a go.
I just got Pokemon Y, and I'm kinda disapointed to find there's no way I can get my Gen 1 Pokemon into the new games. The furthest back I can get from is Ruby/Sapphire.
Earthbound is my favorite. I adore everything about it, but especially its heart. Not many games have it and Earthbound has tons of it.
Anyone will try to guess? =] Gran Turismo 3 for me. After finishing the last race of the final endurance championship and then discovering that there were a hidden Formula Championship with classic F1 cars?! Amazing! But there are many others like Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Rescue Mission (SMS), Sonic 2 and Gunstar Heroes (MD), Philosoma, Gunners Heaven, Wild Arms (PS1),...
Poke'Mon is one of my favorite games, specifically red and blue. I spent alot of time playing them as a kid and I get the same feelings playing them now. But my favorite game of all is super mario bros. I really enjoy all of them, I just have'nt gotten a wii-u and a 3D tv yet for the newest games.
