I know there are moans about power bla bla... but some things I think would work excellently on the DS. -Shock Troopers 2 would be a classic title if ever ported & give it a few touch screen extras! WOW! -Ikagura or almost any vertical shoot em up! I even think Sunset Riders could have a nice dual screen makeover!!! What do you think would work well?
Shock Troopers 2? It's an OK Neo Geo game, but I don't really see how or why it needs a dual screen setup. Ikaruga would fare better, but there is a large gap between the two screens (IMO) that might pose some problems.
Ikaruga should go PSP. Star Soldier by hudson proves the psp works wonderful for a vertical shooter (you turn the unit 90 deg).
I'd like tactical games on the DS. The touch-screen just screams "tactical game!" to me. Rpg's with touch menus would be nice as well, but being able to rotate terrain or move units by stylus... that would rock so much. Having said that, I'd like a DS port of any Front Mission game of the past or a new one. But I'd also love FF6 (that's going to GBA... too bad), Chrono Trigger, Tales of Something, FFT, Persona, or any of the 32 bit greats in RPG and TRPG fare to go there. Plus it'd work, because, for example, you could have menu/battle on touchscreen and exploration on the upper one for RPGs, and the map and units on touch with menus and stats and battles up with TRPGs. Why hasn't anyone done this yet?
I think there's a high chance of that one. I believe I saw something about Blizzard having DS Programming positions posted on their jobs section a few months back.
Id like to see something simple, like Marble Madness (I hope there isnt one heh). Id love to try it out with the touch screen.
I always thought that light gun games would be cool on the DS. However if you play touch game party from taito, the game where you have to tap the ghosts before they hit you is just far too easy with the touch screen. It is a nice idea and feels good, but all difficulty is removed. I still would like to see a house of the dead-esque game, just for fun though. Other than that, hmmm, maybe a kendo game or sword based fighter, with the top screen for a first person view and the bottom for moving your blade. EDIT - yes brigandine is one of my favourite stg games, when will we see a new version!
I second that! Portable StarCraft would be so kick ass, along with some kind of FPS like Perfect Dark or Goldeneye (besides Metroid), Rare can still make portable games can't they? Some kind of MMORPG would be awesome too for DS or PSP.
The DS is screaming for Seaman 2! Not a port, but a whole new game. There's already a mic available for the DS and the touchscreen opens all kinds of possibilities. Wifi would also have to be supported for letting your specimen interact with others and even learn new things. Not to mention that the storyline of the original certainly leaves the door wide open for a sequel. I don't own a DS, but I've been considering one (if I had the money, I probably would buy one). Seaman DS would definitely push me off the fence. ...word is bondage...
I hadnt even thought of Seaman. I think I would lose part of my life if another Seaman game came out, especially for the DS>
actually nothing. I want new gaming experiences, not something I've already played and that is just half good because it wasn't designed for the ds.
The gap between the screens did worry me aswell, but after trying out metroid pinball last week I now have no worries. Considering RTS's alot of people have been wanting these the DS is really the only console that could pull them off. Remember Red Alert for the PS1 still good but... now imagine using the stylus to select & comand units then the top screen as ur map BINGO! And we're all awaiting a good RPG for the DS mario & luigi just doesn't cut it anymore.
I want to see metroid prime ported to the DS... oh, wait... That's still not out yet? Geez... Metroid Nukem Forever!
