People in europe will be camping for longer anyway, no lauch craziness for me for the ps3. sony pissed me off in not releasing it in time in europe... so they'll have to wait for a price DROP for me considering it (or the next FF and Gran Turismo being insanely good)
I don't know, but it smells like a fabricated shortage to me. Fuck these marketing techniques. If I ever get their shitty overpriced system (the urge to play Metal Gear Solid 4, for example), I'll do so used, so at least those bastards at Sony won't directly get my money. Re-selling is a good business, I guess, but still... When are people going to learn? Why pay an ultra-mark up over something that's already marked up? Nothing against any of you guys (and I wish you make a lot of money off these status-seeking morons so you can get Wii). What pisses me off is people being dumb enough to pay like 500% markup for something that's already overpriced, and Sony's (or MS's) greed to manipulate shortages.
Manipulate? They don't make money off people ebaying their systems. They lose out on potential system sales.
No they dont, i wouldnt buy a PS3 at all, not a damn reason, as a matter of fact i only have $700, and im going to college, but im going to buy one, just to sell it
Yes, but they earn it in Hype. The illusion of scarcity WILL guarantee sales. In the end, it justifies inflated pricetags, and many other abuses to the customer.
Hype and shortages don't guarentee sales. All it mean is its more likely the few units you put out there will be grabbed by somebody. But you still make less money. Shortages are something everyone but capitalist resellers hate.
I see your point, and yes, real shortages can be a bitch to everyone but resellers. But fabricated shortage creates the illusion of urgency, and it's a pretty efficient way of convincing consumers to buy. Those are the ones I complain about. I'm not getting a PS3 either way, so let's just continue with the topic.
I'm not getting a PS3 either. I'll buy a PS3 when I can get one for 200$ maybe. Afterall I already own a 360, why do I need a system that does virtually the same thing? The only reason would be to play some games that aren't available for the 360, so I'll simply wait till the PS3 is cheap to play those and therefore punish the developers of those games for releasing their games for the PS3 and not the 360.
