Got this Dreamcat from Japan, and from what I can tell it's an early model (has a metal fan). However, it seems make a very annoying noise when moving the laser pickup. Guessing it needs to be greased but not 100% don't want to take it apart if it's not that.
Have a look at the pinion on the sled motor - they sometimes crack, and when they do they make a noise just like that.
I'll need to get me some of this soon. I'm guessing that the old grease should be removed entirely. What is the best way to do this? I believe oil is used to on the rail that the drive moves along. What kind is best suited for this?
Alright thanks! Would this work? https://www.putoline.com/en/catalogue/maintenance_greases/856/white-action-grease-ptfe/2065/ That seems to be roughly the same as "White lithium grease", although marketed for motorcycles. I can get that locally which is nice. Just want to make sure that it doesn't end up destroying the plastic gears
