Since I think we're all ready to storm Capcom's offices like Spike at the end of Cowboy Bebop I think it's best we remember the Capcom that didn't bend us over and have their way with our wallets. Mega Man got his own thread so that's covered. EVERYBODY remembers Street Fighter For me 2 of my favorite Capcom memories are when My cosuin was playing the First Resident Evil with me and my best friend JR. and we thought skarks out of tanks was the most awesome thing ever. The other is the multiple times I've beaten Code Veronica. The awesomeness that was Power Stone. Owning a Saturn and importing the awesomeness (which I am going to soon experience) Ok what do you remember about the Good Capcom not the Evil blood sucking zombies they are now.
Wall Street what a film and very relevant quote. When I was younger Capcom was one of my favourite developers going. They brought out many great titles and supported the Dreamcast heavily. Ahhh how times have changed.
LOL. I guess you're forgetting about the billions of versions of Street Fighter II and the Mega Man games they did like every year and which got ever crappier. Capcom hasn't exactly been a hero to all children or anything. Not to mention how they've tried to milk ALL their slightly profitable franchises to death. GC ports of Resident Evil 2 and 3 and Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game, anyone? Or how about releasing unfinished games? Street Fighter Alpha 1, anyone?
OH I didn't forget and I bought all those Mega Man games I almost wish they'd do a new Mega Man every year again I'm totally down for a mega man 11, 12,13,14 and 15. Also down for a 16 bit styled Mega Man X9 THEN I would forgive Capcom. But yeah SFII is the gift that keeps on giving. and we never asked for I think Alpha 1 was a fine game alpha 2 was even better Alpha 3 was perfection and Capcom actually GASP stopped while they were ahead.
Alpha 1 was a total rush job, and 2 would've probably been released as DLC or a patch if the Alpha series had come out today. However, back then Capcom, in their infinite benevolence, released the true beginning of the Alpha series as a sequel. Gee, I wonder what you'd say about this release policy if it happened today?
I loved every RE game up until 4. I've never played 3. I think the GC remake of RE1 is my favorite. I also really enjoy Street Fighter Zero 2. Capcom has fucked people over in the past, though. Remember the CPS and its suicide battery?
Not so bad, although the CPS3 still can't be pheonixed. I think Capcom are one of the finest game companies and pulling day 1 DLC isn't going to change it for me. All the rubbish stuff is DLC anyway.
My favorite thing about Cadillacs and Dinosaurs was how hot Hannah was. To this day I still love Final Fight and Captain Commando.
They deserve what happens to them for not treating the Gargoyle's Quest/Demon's Crest spinoff series better.
Not bringing Gyakuten Kenji 2, and probably not bringing either Gyakuten Saiban vs. Layton or the upcoming Gyakuten Saiban 5 - that is what makes Capcom unforgivable. That, and SFIV being in 3D, and maybe a bit for Mega Man 10 sucking and them not making Mega Man X9. But Mega Man X7 and 8 sucked also, so then again... Still, I can go back and play SF3 and MMX and TaleSpin and Rescue Rangers and Mega Man 2 and Ace Attorney 3... and my favourite Role Playing game of all time: Breath of Fire V... and I can sort of forgive them, if just a bit. You know, nobody bought BOFV, and it was a MASTERPIECE. BOFIV was also fantastic... and also, nobody got it. And many people ignored Mega Man X4, 5, 6, because they were 2D... So there might be two sides to this story.
I don;'t think any of the games you said suck actually sucked. Mega Man 10 was fantastic. X7 wasn't ass and X8 was great SFIV was just fine Mega Man X9 shouldn't be made unless it's the elf wars
I think I read recently somewhere about progress on that front. Capcom has been a great developer but I agree that alot of more recent things have been kind of a let down or shitty, but even Capcom of old had some sub par releases. Still they don't have the magic they used to have.
Capcom has no say in localizing Layton vs. Gyakuten Saiban, that is up to Level-5 and I believe they have shown interest in bringing it over, so no worries there. With that said, I've been waiting for Ace Attorney Investigations 2 for over a year, and we've gone from "No, not at this time" to "Maybe, but not anytime soon". I'm getting sick of waiting, and at this slow rate, I don't even want to think about how many years it will be until I get to play GS 5 in English. I guess Capcom just doesn't want our money.
You're not missing much with RE3, just think of it as being RE2.5. You're in the same city, slightly different areas and circumstances and then the city is destroyed. The only upside is Jill's outfit, but that's about it. Back to the topic at hand, one thing I'll always remember CAPCOM for is Street Fighter 2010: The Final Fight. Sure, it had NOTHING to do with the SF series and was only named that to cash in on the arcade game's success... but it was still a great game. The difficulty was right up there with the Ninja Gaiden games, and well worth the tread.
Either they bring Gyakuten Saiban 5 or I go Spike Spengler on their asses. Knowing Capcom and other companies lately, you'd better brush up on your Kanji. And knowing Nintendo, you'd better save up for a Japanese 3DS. Shit.
Ah shit, I forgot about the region lock. Thanks Nintendo. Wait, if they can add a region lock to the DSi, then couldn't they theoretically remove it from the 3DS Lite? Not saying they would, but couldn't they?
