i have a softmodded console, and wanted to know where the music would save to? like if i used a CD and burned it to the console using the original dashboard, i could use those songs in some of the games, but i dont want to waste multiple CDs if i can just FTP it to the right locations, so im just wondering where that right location is?

You can just ftp it anywhere. My music folder is in my F partition. I use XBMC as my dash.

Thanks for that, Borman. Been looking for a program like this for awhile now, must've kept slipping past me.

Careful though, there is a limit to the number of tracks you can add, and if you exceed the llimit then the songs on the XBox get corrupt. I don't know the limit, or if the limit is x number of songs or x MB (the size of the songs added together). I do know it's a large number (probably several hundred songs), so it's not likely you'll encounter this problem, and to test if you have, when you've finished putting your songs across (or adding more songs) then reset the XBox and try to play the last song you added. If it works then you're OK. Otherwise you have to erase all of the songs from the XBox (I think you had to erase them all, as only a clean (empty) list of songs would reset the bug) and put less back on the XBox.

I don't know if this bug is down to XBox Soundtrack Manager, or is a limitation of the XBox's operating system. If you FTP (or burn to DVD then copy across with XBMC or UnleashX) your songs then there's no limits to the number of songs you can transfer across (well, there is, but the limit is only the space on your hard drive), but then the music can only be played by XBMC or a similar program - you can't play them from the Microsoft Dashboard or (more importantly) from games that support custom soundtracks, so if you want to use your own songs when playing the GTA games for example, then you need to use XBox Soundtrack Manager.
