Whilst my dying 360 gently steers me towards Nintendo or Sony

Three weeks ago I picked up another second-hand launch edition core system. For 3 weeks it has been working perfectly well. I was testing it prior to selling it as I needed the cash. Barc0de even expressed an interest in perhaps purchasing it. I said I wouldn't until I was satisfied it was fine.

As it was a spare I didn't update it or go on-line with it. Yesterday I did and it never came back to life again. It is now another paperweight. Out of warranty it's beyond caring about.

So, whether anyone needed further evidence or not, that is now 3 launch revisions of the 360 that have died because they were updated. No spikes, nothing interrupted the download. It completed the download and switched itself off to reboot and simply gave up!

To be fair, it did have a fault when I purchased it, but it was minor and once repaired it has at no time in the last three weeks given any cause for concern.

If you own a launch edition and haven't updated it then be very wary indeed. Anyone else in the UK experienced this (other than the unit OE mentioned his friend had)?
